I made it to work every day this week but today. My office chose to close today (which might be the first time that has EVER happened). Once the snow covered up the ice, most Texans said Phuc it

A co-worker and I went to Lacrosse Wisconsin in Febuary one year a while back for my job at the time. When I left DFW airport, it was 70 degrees, I was carrying my "coat" in my hand. I landed in Chicago, and our flight to Lacrosse was cancelled. We rented a car, and drove the rest of the way in a blizzard. I found out two things very quickly:

1. I did not own anything that could deal with those kinds of temperatures.
2. I was a *****.
It is not a sign of being a ***** when you chose not to live some place that you can freeze to death 6 months out of the year.

Screw cold weather, it is not fun, and more so for us folks in the southern parts of the US, we are just not used to it, not prepared for it, hell, even our houses are not built with those kind of temps in mind.

Nobody can drive on ice unless they have studded tires, and it is iffy them.

Declarative statements like that can get you in trouble. We did it all the time in MN.

It's much more fun today, when there is 4 inches of snow on top of the ice, than yesterday when it was just ice.

Until he has to stop or swerve to avoid something. Then he'll learn a little about 4X4s and ice.

I can say this much as a fact, ice, summer tires and a blown corvette is not a good combo.

I am with Greg! You can drive on ice but just beware of things like corners and sudden stops as you slide and slide and slide then BANG!

Had my 4x4 Grand Cherokee out in the ice and snow storm we had here. Schools were closed for a week. Had fun in the Jeep. First time in 4 wheel drive. Now I am glad I bought it. Had a blast driving around town! I missed that from growing up in the Boston area. I have to say though the cold weather sucks and I can only imagine what NY has been like!

I made it out earlier in the wife's Excursion. McKinney is pretty deserted.

And in the south you have to really watch out for folks that think they can drive on ice.

Not just the south. There are plenty of idiots in MN that "think" they can drive on ice. It's their driving I'm worried about, not mine.

When I first got my liscense, when it snowed I would take my car to a big parking lot and do rinky-dinks. Learned how to control the rear of the car in a slide. Now those were the day's!

Oh Yeah,
Basic Canadian physics equation,
4 Wheel Drive = 4 Wheel Slide
Nothing quite like a two ton frisbee for entertainment.
