Congratulations, Jim and Sue! It's great that it will be close, and looking forward to seeing it at some point.
I hope to add one to the island-dwelling population of sharks as soon as a suitable candidate shows its fin(ish).

+3 .....especially with the weather this winter!
Congrats on what appears to be a really nice example. I think this car was originally sold by Hendrick Porsche in Charlotte. If so, I remember seeing it on the lot when it was brand new! There aren't many black/classic grey 5-speeds out there.....

And you're right Chuck. I saw the original bill of sale this morning. It was originally purchased from Beck-Hendrick in Charlotte, and spent most of it's life in Rockingham (although I believe it was stored in Rutherford for the last several years).
Busy uploading "new baby" pics for Jim and Sue...

I stand corrected. Jim took a closer look at the photo I took of this document and it was not for this car. Apparently PO owned a series of 928's, the GTS being the last. The document I saw was for a black '88 S4.

Stephen, Thank you so much!!
An update to my previous: It looks like the most recent service was around 16,000 miles (current is 16,500), Dec '97-- that was timing belt, coolant, brake fluid, and steering rack (which was leaking). There is no indication of why the timing belt was changed then (only the belt, nothing else), "owner was advised of need" is all it says. ($63 for belt, 7.8 hours labor @ $70). The good news is that it is only 13 years old, not 18
(I know, I know... but does this mean that the dealer was changing them after only 5 years?)
The other good news is that it was parked with fresh coolant, which is shown as "G-1-03-0002 Anti-Freeze" on the paperwork. Mercedes has a coolant Q-103-0002 which is similar to Zerex G-05, which is also good... I think.

Well done Jim and Sue!
Good thing I wasn't aware of it soon enough... and don't have the money right now anyway (although that is EXACTLY the car Diane is looking for!). Probably a safe combination these days...
