I had the wing on my '91 S-4 done three times over the eight years I owned the car and each time the painter said that they knew what they were doing. All three times the paint ended up chipping. The OEM wing is made of hard rubber and requires a base coat of some special stuff Some of the other members have had better luck then I did Good luck

Try SEM plastic primer before painting. It will fill the rough surface and allow the paint to flex. There is a flex agent that can be added to the paint too.

I had mine painted a year ago, silver, to match the car, it still looks great and everything is fine. I gave the shop a set of instructions from the forum, but they said they knew all about the flex additive, etc.

Wing looks great matching the body color. Paid $250, I removed the old wing and installed the new one (5 min. job).

Hi SKrilla,

No texture at all, nice and smooth. I think they sanded it down before priming.

Or... the easy way is to buy the repro fiberglass wing and paint it to match. The GTS's had the body colored wings and were fiberglass, if I recall correctly.
