Default Rob Rossitto's 1985 928 For Sale....... Updated with Pictures

If you know anyone looking for a great starting place for a car, Rob's wife is offering his car for sale. It can be purchased with or without the stroker engine...there is a sale pending on the engine, but it has not been completely funded and may fall apart.

The car is a really nice 1985 with upgraded everything...I'll take some pictures and post some details. The car is set-up and wired to accept a later S-4 engine. Very sturdy automatic with upgrades to hold the torque. Higher stall convertor. Big brakes, sway bars, shocks, wheels, etc.

Car without engine $7500.

Can you define what changes in the wiring is needed to accommodate the S4. I have an 86.5 with an S4 but cannot seem to get the engine started. It has spark and gas but just back fires.

Thanks

25K. Completely fresh. Newest design connecting rods, newest combustion chamber design, newest windage trays, new bearings, etc. Hasn't been run.

$.50 on the dollar, if you haven't priced one lately, BTW.

Got another one coming out of a 1990, next week. Car got rear ended by a Jeep when it was parked. Jeep was doing about 40mph...amazing how much this 928 absorbed...but it got totalled by the insurance company. This one has 45K on it...running great. Just had a belt and water pump thing done. Has early rods, cometic gaskets, and no windage tray or pan spacer. He wants 15K for the engine.

Plus this car has all the pieces, except the rear taillights.

I made lots of notes, when I did it...but it was pretty complex for my little brain. Trying to figure yours out, from here, is going to be really hard.

Backfires.

Have you tried switching the ignition trigger side to side?

where did I leave that lottery ticket!!!!!!!!!

I was lucky enough to ride in an earlier version of this engine.....umm... is a HORRIBLE understatement....the torque and wide powerband of this engine was UNREAL..... I would buy this engine in a second...but of course....I am broke

I forgot about that ride which you took with Rob. You both came back a little "whiter" than when you left...must have been Mr Toad's wild ride?

Care to share?

I stopped by Greg's and had a look at Rob's car. Damn there are a lot of nice pieces on this car, it would be an outstanding basis for a HPDE/track car. I stole some of the specs off Rob's website (http://www.myinfoware.com/928/85shark.htm) , and Greg can fill in the details on some of the mods pictured below and whatever special sauce I missed.

Some pics:

Exterior:

Porsche platinum metallic, repaint in 2006:

Immaculate H4's:

IIRC there's a small divot in the RR fender lip, looks like there was tire contact at some point.

Unfortunate bumper cover damage. Not sure what the story is/was:

New S spoiler:

INTERIOR:

ENGINE COMPARTMENT/ CHASSIS

BW Motorsports Turbo 3-piece wheels, 18x9 front, 18x10.5 rear, with Michelin Sport Cups 265/35 front, 295/30 rear. Dunno what the offsets are but they must be sky high on the fronts....

Lots of 928 Motorpsorts bits...

3" Custom Stainless Dual Mandrel-bent exhaust w/Random Technologies Bullet Cats, dual Bassani mid-mufflers and a 2-in-2-out Magnaflow Rear Resonator

Reinforced front sway bar mounts:

993 TT front brakes, cast hole rotors, 55 bar brake bias valve, Bilstein/Eibach, poly bushings on A-arms and sway bars. Adjustable front sway bar

Custom 2100 rpm stall speed TC, modded valve body, rebuilt LSD, Greg's head:

but of course!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think it was Dec 06.....Rob just got his 1st refresh of the stroker done...if I recall correctly (good luck) he didn't like the cometic head gasket since it leaked, so that plus a little HP boost was the reasoning behind the refresh....

I think his stroker was 360ishwhp-440+torque prior to this refresh...& Rob hadn't driven it in many months prior to this day. So Rob, Doc & I are talking and looking at the stroker Doc was building for the GTS that was going back to Europe....that was a very cool Euro GTS shipped all the way to Doc for an engine!!!!!! I ask Rob for a ride and he says yes!!!!!

I consider myself a pretty cool customer when it comes to wild rides...since I figure that whomever is giving me a ride in their fast machine doesn't want to wreck it....I usually don't get too excited...

So Rob and I leave the shop and put around a bit to get the temp up......Once up to temp Rob hammers it going up an on ramp that was about a 180' turn.....he was constantly backpedalling and sliding at the same time....impressive driving using only your hands.....we are flying at the top of the ramp at touch 120mph very quick before traffic slows us down.....Rob comments on how much stronger this engine is compared to his old one.

Back in town there is a small gap in traffic on city street....rob turns the 90' corner from a stop and drops the hammer.....this time is hooked up pretty good after only a short burnout.....we are FLYING on this street......I'm watching the cars ahead of us stopped at a red light as we are closing at say 90mph....top of 2nd gear.... I'm thinking damm Rob must have serious brakes on this ride, since I don't think Sharky (my 88s4) could stop in time....Rob leans on the brakes and they lock up (no ABS) now I am sure we are going to hit the honda in front of us and HARD....I brace for impact....and I'm bummed that Rob's nice 928 is gonna get wrecked....at the last possible second Rob lets off the brakes and cranks the wheel to the right into a parking lot.....we slide sideways into the parking lot and barely miss the curb......then coast to a stop around a corner in an industrial area......

My heart rate was flying...and Rob's had to be the same.....I think I said "thats a wild ride"...and Rob agreed with me..... We slowly drive back to Doc's shop.....On the way Rob says "Doc said to scare ya!" I can honestly say it was a wild ride.....
