Default Telephone Dial questions

Hi fellows,
For my Euro S2-84, I am contemplating a possible purchase of a Telephone Dial set of rims which I will equip with winter tyres, to alternate with the Flatdisch ones equipped with summer tyres. Hence my questions, sorry if they seem dumb or previously answered, but could not retrace when googling the search function:
Are Telephone Dial rims made of steel or alloy?
Known weaknesses?
Heavier ot lighter than Ftatdisch?
Thanks in advance for your good comments,
Ralph

Alloy.
No known weaknesses that I know of. Make sure you get the correct 928 ones which are 7J ET65 offset. They are stamped with a 928 part number.
They are slightly heavier but there's not a lot in it.

If your S2 was a 1986MY you would need a 3mm spacer on the front to clear the 4 pot brakes, but this won't be a factor on a MY 1984.

There were 15 inch and 16 inch sets.
15 for automatic, 16 for manual --- thats just how they were sold.

We removed a set of 15 inch from an 85S, same as the 84s, and it seemed that they were running fine on that car.

These were 928 -specific sets.

My 15 inch ones are very light compared to the flat, not heavier.

Not all automatics came with 15" phone dials. I bought my 81 new in early 82, and it came with 16", polished and painted black. This is how they look 29 years later!

I use to run '16 phone dials on my '82 and absolutely loved them. As for weakness I know of none, they seem to be a fairly strong wheel.

Many thanks to all, great input!
My car is manual MY85, and indeed I am only looking for original ones in 7x16 ET65. There were repro ones that I saw which had rust traces, hence my doubt about the metal used.
Here few family pics, enjoy!
