Will this 84 Euro pass VA safety inspection?
Daughter is moving up to Hampton area ( Langley AFB) . What does a VA safety inspection look for? Her completely refreshed ( by me here in San Diego) 84 Euro is immaculate, so I'm hoping it will not have any problems.

Probably won't pass...I think she will need to leave it here in Austin with me where we don't have to worry about stuff like that! LOL!
I have no idea if it will pass or not, but it sure is a beautiful car! Period correct (though not my cup of tea and a B-itch to keep clean) wheels even!

VA inspection includes,
Exterior lights (required or euro optional / signals) all must work
Brakes (pads and rotors)
Fluid levels normal
Mirrors
Horn
Glass (unbroken, you can be failed for chips, all depends on the dork you get that day)
Suspension joints/bushings (sealed and not leaking/worn)
Tires
Exhaust intact
Dash warning lights
Wipers
Door locks, basic key operations.
Different counties have different emissions requirements but the above list is the basics.
Outside of the above you should be good.
There is a pretty big group here and we should be able to help out if needed.
Michael
P.S. Is that a 914 in the garage? Always wanted one of those!

Supposed to pass a visual for appropriate emissions equipment for the year.
Foglights and extra high beams not supposed to work with high beams.
Depends who's inspecting it.

CA inspection is smog only, it was an orignal CA BAR approved car so that is all they care about. The only time they check the rest is if the car was registered as a salvage - went through this on a 79 MG I restored.
yes, it will pas all of these:

Talk to locals, there will be someone who people like and go to all the time and there will be some asshat that tries to make money off everyone who walks in. I can say my guy is pretty cool, 928 has never failed. Wife's car did once but the brakes were wore out, my bad. Now he knows us and knows I do all my own work so if anything's borderline I'll skate and buy the parts on the way home.

They do have state enforcement show up and test the different stations, seeing if they'll break the rules, so it's best to GO with a local, not just to a good shop if you haven't gone before.
It's a big $$$$ scam here, though as a result,
the auto parts places tend to have more stock than in most places I've lived around the country.

I got rejected by my local guy for a brake pad warning light a few weeks ago.
Pissed me off. New brakes all around, but the light is on because I removed the sensors on the back during the trans job.
Am breaking-in a new local guy now. Check with me when coming through Virginia in the spring. BTW, am sending a car to VA Beach to live soon (daughter).
