Mine (in Texas) almost failed last month because the red ! was on. The guy thought it was the check engine light. I had to go out and show him it would go off when he took the park brake off.

I got rejected by my local guy for a brake pad warning light a few weeks ago.
Pissed me off. New brakes all around, but the light is on because I removed the sensors on the back during the trans job.
Am breaking-in a new local guy now. Check with me when coming through Virginia in the spring. BTW, am sending a car to VA Beach to live soon (daughter).
