Rob is that the flywheel cover in the dishwasher?
Yes. Though I'm pretty sure I removed the dishes before I ran the dishwasher.

If I learned anything from GB, it's that you need to be obsessive about clean during engine assembly. Kitchen's the cleanest room in the house, so any sensitive work that we didn't do in Greg's engine room got done in the kitchen. My garage is full of glass beads from all the blasting I've done.....

And that's why my new house has a washbasin/tub right inside the door to the garage.

Here are some more, I liked how the distributor leaked oil on the counter top. Hood in hallway, now its time to bring the wheels in the living room for polishing. Got most things removed from engine, need to get the cherry picker before I undo the motor mounts and torque tube.

He has got it horizontal, laying flat on the floor .... I think you meant vertical as it's installed in the car.

When I removed mine the big dowels in the bell housing were holding it in place. Maybe try prying the engine forward (with the cherry picker providing a bit of upward tension) to get the bell housing free.It should pop loose then. Gunar

It was the dowels that go in some of those big holes you see at the rim of the bell housing. Same problem when installing. On install you are all good once they are lined up and in.

I believe the bell housing will have to be unbolted IIRC

Check the rear of the engine during my pull several years ago (no bell housing there)

If you have the bolts out you have won a big battle!
Took me better part of an afternoon to finally get mine out. Did not really have an issue with the dowels sticking.

Also I think I saw where someone posted to take lots of pictures. It really helps later when all is going back together.

Good luck.
