Default Defeated by my instrument cluster.

OK, I officially give up on my cluster. It worked fine other than the fuel gauge and the odometer when I pulled it out. Now it appears normal until I turn on the lights.

As soon as the lights are lit the temp and fuel gauges max out. There is no gauge illumination at this point either.

I'm pretty sure the ribbon card is shot. The middle tab had broken off on the cluster and that ribbon connector is pretty banged up.

I can probably rewire the entire assembly, but in the mean time, I'm looking for a complete cluster to drop in while repairing my original.

So, anyone have or know of a parts car floating around?

My car is a 1982.

Thanks,

Mark

You could do the rewire that was just talked about.

I've got an '83 cluster here in excellent shape. PM me.

Group, will an '83 cluster work in an '82?

I figured I'd try the rewire. I just need something to put in the car while working on it. I'm currently rewiring the BMW so it's not driveable right now.

Some of the local folks might have one (those that don't frequent here). Post up on the PacNW list.. I'll check with some of the other PacNW 928 track car guys as they might have one lying around..

is the foil for an 82 NLA? I recently replaced the one in my 79 for about $100.
