Default Window washer plumbing, anyone? EDIT: Now washer pump problem

Ok, the PO must probably have been the dumbest person to own a 928 ever. He has disconnected all three of the pumps, and un-plugged just about every pipe. Now, as it's winter and lots of snow/ice/salt on the windscreen, I'd like to have a washer system! Now I'm trying to put it all together, but nothing makes sense... 1/2" tubes somewhere, and needle-thin elsewhere.

The question is: Does anyone have a schematic over the plumbing? Can't find anything in the WSM.

EDIT: Found the schematics in PET! So.... everything solved.

If the PO disconnected everything it's most likly because the check valves were sticking open or closed. You can replace them or soak them in vinigar to disolve the water deposits.

In the design of the washer fill tube and tank, two carbon steel sleeves were used.
There is enough rust generation capability on in one car due to these sleeves to take down 50 systems. Or your car 50 times.

Pull the liner and cover behind the right front wheel, focus on the tank fill area and you will discover the root cause beneath the black hose that links the fill spout with the tank. Several of us have removed what is left of the sleeves and operated without them.

Worked out the plumbing this morning, and when I plugged in the cable the pump made noise. However, nothing comes out of the pump. Is it able to suck fluid, up to where the pump is located? Took it out, and when I place it below tank level, it works. But above tank level, nothing comes out. The seal seems fine, could there be anything else wrong? Or do I need a new one?

Thanks

(and if anyone think that changing blue clutch hose is hard... Try removing the washer pump )

last year I replaced my WW pump. just left the old one in place and installed a new one and strapped to the filler neck. had to do a little wiring extension. I also R&R'ed/cleaned the tank and repl the filler neck. I had the hood off so redid those hoses to elim all the high pressure check valves. not concerned about retaining that part of system.

when I tested, nothing came out.... could feel/hear the pump running. there is a secondary return hose to the tank, I suspected to allow for bleeding off excessive pressure.

did not have time to trouble shoot yet, and suspecting clogged hood jets.

Took it out, and when I place it below tank level, it works. But above tank level, nothing comes out. But above tank level, nothing comes out
never considered this. will be tracking this thread. wont get into sorting this out until spring. we just got another 1" of snow and mid teens today. don't get the shark out much during the winter.

Thikn I'll just go with a aftermarket pump, at about $13. Going on ice in just two weeks, and I don't think I'll recieve any pump from US before that But I'll try to fix my pump, to check what's wrong. It MUST be a suction pump, since its mounted above the tank.

Love your color, btw

I replaced my washer pump a couple of months ago since it wasn't working. I replaced my cracked coolant expansion tank at the same time - removing the expansion tank makes the washer pump fairly easy to get to.

While doing this, I noticed that my washer fluid tank (under the fender) had a considerable amount of rust paste at the bottom. I had to remove the tank and flush several times before I got it all out.

After the cleaning, I then replaced the two check valves in the hood.

The headlight washer pump always made noise & sometimes spit rust at my lights. Using a straight pin (& a *lot* of runs of the headlight washer pump) I got all the rust out.

Now it all works properly.
