New 928 Owner Intro
Hey All,
After 24 years of admiring the only Porsche I ever really liked, I finally found a 1988 S4. It has a solid service history including TB/WP/tensioner 10K miles ago, and I drove it from Florida to Ohio with no problems.
Been reading the 928 forum for a while, and I am amazed at the experience here. I feel that if anything were to go wrong, all I have to do is search the forum to find the answer, w/ pics, even! As a matter of fact, I just purchased the PKlamp from Roger based on the forum's recommendations. I'm looking forward to installing it and becoming more familiar with the car. It is not my daily driver, but it will be driven enough to stay "flexible", as I can't stay out of it for long!
Projects (in no particular order):
Replace front spoiler (missing)
Replace front driver's side fog light cover (cracked)
Replace belly pans (missing)
Getting the windshield washer to work (headlight washers are fine)
Install x-pipe (to make thrust bearing check easier)
Looking forward to many years of driving happiness!

Congrats on the car. I see you are USAF SMSgt - still active?
My daughter is USAF, drives her 84 Euro (below) daily onto Shaw AFB, where she is stationed for the next few months.

Congrats. I too recently became a 928 owner and have found more than my share of help on these forums. Seems like the right place to be. Nice choice on your purchase.

There's some big ticket items on your list:
spoiler $500
foglamp $275
front belly pan $350 ?
X-pipe $375
Adds up quickly, which is why most choose not to...

Welcome and congrats on a beautiful shark. You don't NEED to put in a x-pipe to make the check easier. Just install the cover with only the two bolts that can be accessed without dropping the exhaust. Works great. I install these bolts with some #242 blue loctite...
But... If you want the extra ponies, then go for the x-pipe!
Welcome to the tank!

@neilh Yes, still active; hit 20 last Aug. Currently at Wright-Pat AFB after 10 years in England and Italy.
@MeteorGrey Thanks on the info on the x pipe. I'd like to leave the car as stock as possible, and your advice will allow me to do that. Now if the horsepower bug doesn't bite...
@Jadz928 Yep, I've been pricing the replacement items. I'll probably have to wait for used parts to surface...patience is a virtue.

Congrats!
I also waited twenty some years admiring the car before jumping in the tank. Mine has had some problems but it is the car that I lusted for long, long time.
