Mark, let me ask you this, assuming that you have traction, and in first gear at 25 MPH which will accelerate more, the car with the 2:20 or the 2:73?
BTW, I know the answer to this, just like every other drag racer in the world knows.
You keep saying it make no difference as far as the rear end ratio, but brother, there are a lot of street freaks out there that can, and have, proved that theory wrong.

After first then there are trade offs, but in a contest of acceleration, the first 60 foot usually tells the tale. ![Big Grin](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

Did you just go there?
. Actually it's ok, it took me a long time to get Mark to admit that in 1st gear, since there is no lower gear before it to be able to maximize HP, the shorter the gear the faster the car will accelerate AND its maximum acceleration will happen at the engine torque peak
. Of course the assumption is that the tires are fully hooked up and do not spin at all. After 1st gear though, it just becomes a bunch of trade-offs.

A bit OT, but Dan how are the roads where you are at?
We have gotten about 3/8 of a inch of sleet since so far and it has turned to snow.
Tomorrow will a redneck holiday for sure.

It is close though.
Even if I do get done tomorrow, doubt I will be able to drive it, and that is going to drive me nuts.

I think so, yes. The EZK has an input from the transmission, to retard timing during shifts, and the LH has an input to drop the idle speed when it is in gear. I don't know how it will behave with those inputs disconnected, the simple thing is to fix the jumper.
And congratulations on almost being done!!

Not sure what the wiring is for that however, but figured I'd mention it so you know to track it down.

Based on driving - there's an input to the cruise control too. When you push the clutch, it suspends, and resumes when you release the clutch (so the cruise control doesn't redline the engine when you change gear).

All this little stuff takes time.
And I still have a very intermittent fault that shows up maybe once a month when it looses the ability to control the idle. (dies)
It is far better now that it was, but I have replaced all the engine harness ends, the ECM, the TPS (twice) the IAC, no vacuum leaks, cleaned all the grounds twice, just frustrating when it happens, and it is going to be more of a issue with a 5 speed than a auto.
I think I got shark bit some place along the line, as I bought this car to flip.

Boy you guys make things harder than they should be. The backup light is switched from the transmission. On the auto it switches a relay - I think on the five speed the relay is removed and jumpered. The same for the starter lock out relay. The wires for the gear lights are not used and can be ignored. The tach can be replaced with a five speed one to eliminate the lights.
The cruise control over ride is wired in to the auto. In fact the chassis has the bolt holes for the micro switch. The wires going to the microswitch are coupled together in tghe auto. Just remove the coupler and connect the wires to the micro switch.
A bit of creativity can be used with the clutch pedal to mount a piggy back micro switch to provide a clutch lock out for the starter. Just use the auto relay and connect it to a second micro switch. If the clutch is not pushed in the starter will not operate. This is a common safety feature on new cars.
If I remember right the wiring harness from the car from the trunk forward is the same for both auto and manual. Just when the manual trans is not installed some of the wires are not used.
Good luck

The cruise is completely seperate.
The wires are white and near the top of the pedal in a clear plastic connector just attaching the two wires together.
This switch looks exactly like the idle and WOT switches on an L-Jet car.
The cruise will work normally other than reving up (slowly and only when you are dropping speed). Seeing as how i only ever use cruise in 5th i simply left it as was.

Well I got it to the point i could drive it today, I have a vibration now, seems engine related, I am going to try and have the flywheel balanced the same as the old auto flywheel.
I had my local machine shop balance the rotating assy and they gave me no records and could not tell me if they did a internal or external balance on it.
Yea, pisses me off.
It changed the car a great deal.
