Having a hell of a time getting this to start.... again
Started once since home.
Also,
fuse 24 blows every time I install. Immediately.
[Diagnostic connector, Current pulse tailgate, interior light.]
edit... Pic would be good....
here it is.

Looks like wild guamenian feces flinger was in there doing the wire work.
I'll agree on ID of the backup battery for the alarm unit.

For fuse 24, check the dome lights - pretty common to have a short up there, one wire likes to short against the underside of the roof. Also, that circuit is a favorite for alarm installers to tap into to detect an open door, so if the problem isn't at the dome light itself some of that spaghetti may be at fault. If you just pull the dome light free of the headliner and find that the fuse doesn't blow anymore, you've found the issue.

Nothing for it but to work through removing the alarm and re-joining all the wires they busted.
I did it to my red 87 - it was driven to the shippers, and then somewhere in transit they lost the alarm "key" to disable the immobiliser, so the car sat in my driveway for 2 months while I finished off another 928 project.
A friend and I spent a few hours carefully comparing wires, workshop manual, and probing with a multimeter to make sure that the wiring got soldered back to stock and the alarm was exorcised.
