A little off topic but the guy who I manage a factory for it famous for not wanting to do anything himself. From carrying his recycle bin to the curb (he'll have an employee drive 20 miles to his house to do it) to changing a lightbulb in his garage (same scenario). One day I was walking in the factory and he threw a quart of oil at me and said, put this in the engine. It's the company S65 AMG so any chance I get to drive it or look at the hood is fine with me. I came back in and said, "I put it in the thing with the blue cap, you are good to go" and walked out of his office. His eyes got huge. Funny now he now takes his car to a service center to get the oil added. I still get to drive it though. Fun car.

When I got the '83 that is now sold, it came to me as a parts car(as most of mine do; no comments from locals allowed here) Anyway, the fuel tank was in the passenger front seat, etc, and the front of the engine was in a state of partial disassembly. I had been told that the engine was "bad", hence the parts car designation. I got to wondering what was "bad" about an '83 engine. I pulled the rest of the TB mess off and while I was pulling the tensioner arm off, found that the person who had worked on the car just previously had used electrical tape wrapped around the bolt that the tensioner "swings" on as it adjusts for expansion. As the tape got hot, I'm sure the tensioner arm wobbled and the belt came off. I replaced the 2-$2 bushings and the car ran like a bat from hell.
