Default Can you fix your shark with a good slap? I can!

This is very odd,

For awhile now, I have been having some random electrical issues specifically my power windows and headlights.

Every so often, my windows don't work.......................either of them. If I shut the car off and start it again, they may work they may not but sooner or later resetting the electrical makes them work. I thought it may have been a faulty relay so I replaced it but it made no difference.

Now my headlights are a strange thing. First off, my highbeams dont ever come up anymore. I blame this on the pooched combination switch but now there is a new twist...........................they turn off whenever they feel like it! Last night I was coming back from the airport and it was rainy and dark. No worries until about 10 miles from my house and blooop, no headlights! Out of a kind of startled reaction, I slapped the side of the pod in a WTF kinda manner and poof! the lights came on again? So once I got onto a sideroad, I hit the pod again and out went the lights.

I have been pondering the problem all day and trying to find some common thing between the windows and the headlights as both issues kind of arose at the same time.

What i "think" may be an issue is my ignition switch. There is a decent bit of play in it when the car is running meaning that I can turn the key back and forth in the switch about 1/4 of an inch. Is there supposed to be allowable play in this switch and do you think it could be a factor in the headlight issue?

Of course in could also be that pooched combination turn signal switch too or maybe even electrical connections inside the pod but I doubt the headlights have just some random eletrcial connector in there.

Anyway, just thought I would put that out there and see if anyone else has experienced similar issues.

Cheers
Bernie

Yes, the ignition switch is a decent suspect. My lights started to randomly go out too. Rather scary. I discovered that jiggling the key would temporarily fix it, similar to when you pounded the side of the pod. However, you may also have another issue, as I can't see how the ignition switch would just affect the high beams.

Ah, sorry I confused you.
No the highbeams are dead period. I am certain thats an issue with the combination turn signal switch.....................its jacked.

Its the low beams that went out.

Pretty sure I gotta tear that pod down and do a bunch of repairs in there. Too many niggling little issues like no oil pressure, etc.

Cheers

Your Title- Can You Fix Your Shark With A Good Slap?

If it works for you, you are related to Benny Hinn!

LOL, maybe I should start my own shark church to cure the ills of the poor lost mechanical souls.

Hmm, I may be able to raise enough money to buy that GTS?

I thought only Fonzie in Happy Days can fix things with a slap. He even jumps a shark in the fifth season but he did not fix it.

I have a loose pin connection in my cluster connector that looses contact after it warms up. If the heater is off, then it last a long time before the Tach quits.
A tap on the pod or rough road bump will bring it back but i prefer to reach under and push the connector back. I need to pull the pod and clip it in properly

currently the dash light is intermittent on the fuel gauge, slap the pod in the morning wakes it right up!
