I'd like to see the Koa as well. Since my car is in Honolulu, I am thinking that some KOA might make sense.

I have an extra set of burgundy inserts if you want to see how they look. I'm in the bay area but will be out of pocket until new years week.

Or we can still do things like this:

with either carbon weave, synthetic wood, or other materials.

I used rose word - it came out pretty nice. I plan on adding some to the center console as well.

I finished them off with clear auto finish front and back. The back was relieved with some stress cuts to keep them from warping. It has been a few years no with no problems.

I was thinking about getting custom door panel inserts made. Paul Champagne has a picture on the website of inserts with black pascha leather and red piping, that I kind of like.

Any other ideas? Red porsche emblem? Red 928 lettering?

I was also thinking of front mats with Porsche in red on them, already have a trunk mat like that.
Mark,

just drop me an email and I will design something custom for you that will do exactly what you want.

You can play with textures and/or colors. The idea is to create interest while tying in with the rest of the interior. Here are a few examples:

Alcantara and Classic gray leather:

Custom engraved Porsche script on blue leather:

And Jim Doerr, in this picture, shows a good example on how you can use a custom texture as a highlight and as a base for future enhancements.

Thanks

Paul

Hi Paul,

Will get in touch after Christmas. I just wanted to get some ideas first, which in turn help me get an idea of what I want to do.

Thanks to everyone else for their suggestions.

Is there any way to 'recover' these inserts? The shop that's doing my stereo said sand + poly coat or maybe a heat gun, but i figure heat is what caused the cracks in the first place... The center console piece is in a similar state.

The OE wood can be 'refurbished', but it isn't for the faint hearted!. I had a '94 GTS with full wood interior that I wanted to refinish. First, all the old clear coat must be removed. It is the hardest clear coat I've ever tried to remove. Many treatments of Aircraft paint remover finally got it done. I sanded the wood lightly and since I wanted it darker than the OE light maple, I put on a light 'cherry' stain. Many coats of polyurethane, light 2500 grit sanding between, and final polishing, it looked great. I might try to find a quality furniture refinishing guy if I wanted to do it again!

Good luck.

I think that the go to place is Madera Concepts (http://www.maderaconcepts.com, no affiliation, they're just on my wish list) for refinishing the interior wood bits.

Good luck
