What would you do with the door panel inserts on a black interior?

The 89 S4 has a nice black interior but I would like to add just a little colour to it. It's all so totally black right now.
I was thinking about getting custom door panel inserts made. Paul Champagne has a picture on the website of inserts with black pascha leather and red piping, that I kind of like.
Any other ideas? Red porsche emblem? Red 928 lettering?
I was also thinking of front mats with Porsche in red on them, already have a trunk mat like that.

If you go any of these routes, you'll find that you'll have to do a few more pieces. Otherwise the inserts will simply look as if they were an afterthought or didn't belong to the car.
Personally, I would stick with one visual feature - e.g. either the piping OR the Pascha, but not both.
I've heard of people who changed the piping on their seats as well, which may be a way to tie things together at little cost.
Jim Doerr has what looks like linen piping in his pearl white 928 S4. This looks very nice, and not overdone.

Call Roger, and have him post some pictures, his GTS is triple black with red piping on the seats and door panels. Looks GREAT!

Since asked, I'll add my suggestion: I have a pair of custom made Koa wood (very rare, hawaiian wood) that were made for my '88 S4. They are "bookmarked" (woodworkers term for two pieces that have the same appearance, as they were made from a wide piece of wood that was cut down the middle), and have the typical Koa reddish color with a white (sapwood) streak down the middle. Are finished with several coats of Spar polyurethane. Anyone who saw the car for the first time always commented on what beautiful door panels I had.
When the '88 was totaled by a semi-trailer truck (rear end damage only), I removed them to install on the next car. BUT - since the '94 GTS I bought has the full OE rootwood interior, including door panel inserts, I have not used these Koa inserts in it. So - they are available, but more costly than a leather re-dye job!
Contact me by PM if you have any interest in these. Pictures are available.

I updated my blue/blue 88 and swapped out the carpeting and leather door panels for champagne/tan. Definately brightens things up. I have seen the same for black interiors.

If you do a different color door insert, do a matching shift boot and / or steering wheel / Pod.

You have to decide what your focal point will be as far as aesthetics. That could be as much as a whole Champagne interior. It could be just a steering wheel. Then build from there.
If you change just the panels, they are your focal point. If you change them plus something else (in sync) then think about the sum total of the change.
The change also will inversely highlight anything flawed in the interior as well.
