Chuck has some info on it here:
http://www.928registry.org/1989-928/...sting-page.htm

Listed as a salvage car....and dead pic link..but Chuck may know more about it...

From the description above...sounds like it was a twin to mine Nothing like a GT with heated sport seats . Now if I can find that elusive non-sunroof 89 GT

and James..the details in the 89 GT go way beyond just more HP....there's a special book on the changes, put out by Porsche. It's a lot of little things that add up to pure greatness

True, but the vin is just a start. The engine/trans stampings are what to look at next.

I vote for fixing it also, if at all possible. Better yet, maybe viewers here could help weigh in on the decision making process if you posted some pictures.

How about some recent pics with details of the damage shown as well as the general condition of the rest of the car?

I think you could get some good insight into the possibilities from the experts here.

I've been amazed at what has been ressurected here.

Shame, that's a great looking GT. What's wrong with the 928 parked in front of it?

Here's my cursory list- maybe 10-12K worth of stuff, or a lot less if you call Mark Anderson before the 24th....

door windows
crossmember
hood
fenders
headlights
A/C hoses to compressor, high side line
fans
radiator
all coolant hoses
PS hoses
all vacuum lines
plug wires
PS reservoir
LH harness
timing belt
TB covers
rotors
distributor caps
FOE harness
front wiring harness
air cleaner and intake hoses
fuel lines
coolant reservoir
air cleaner and tubes
injectors, rails, dampers, and FPR
Hall sensor
TPS
CPS
knock sensors
charcoal canister
washer fluid tank
washer fluid filler neck
motor mounts
TB tensioner boot
coils
air pump/diverter hoses
front brake lines
Pray that burning, shorting wires didn't kill LH/EZK/ABS/fan amp brains/other relays on the CE.

Yea I think its too much for me to handle trying to repair........ I think its a parts car..

The 928 in front of it is wrecked.

Is this local to you (as in Portland?)

BTW...before you decide...this is one of about 109 89GT's...and one of about 16 Cdn Spec 89GTs... Unique in the fact that it has heated sport seats, and no rear air..hopefully a km/Celsius dash/heater controls etc...

With ANY fire car you run the risk that the fire "happened" after the timing belt let go or other expensive repair was needed. And the owner decided to "sell" the car to his insurance company. Was more common with 928s when many were buying them with borrowed money and were way upside down. Add a respray to Rob's list and the car is toast !

A fender, hood a few wire harnesses. What's the big deal? The parts needed are all generic except for the rolled fender opening.

looks like a fuel line fire (passenger side fender area)...which hopefully would have kept the damage..high and up front.... Either way...I'll spread the word about ultra rare 89GT parts ..on our local pacnw list...
