As far as options I think are "nice" and would prefer to have in any future 928 I own, my minimum set are:
  • Manual gearbox
  • No sunroof
  • Full Leather interior (dash/console/quarters/etc.)
  • LSD
  • 10 speaker system
  • 12-way drivers seat with memory (I like the lumbar - great for getting comfie on long trips)
  • Unusual metallic colour/color

If I find an 87-95 that ticks all those above items, I'll happily sell all 3 of my current ones. My '89 has it all except the colour - but a colour change is a headache as it requires engine out to do the engine bay. The colour change may yet happen however, along with GTS flares, as late cars with full leather and no sunroof are rare

For retro-fitting, the only features I'd be tempted by on my S4's are:
  • Electronic Cruise Control for the 87's
  • Electric headlight adjusters (except the red 87 where the hydraulic ones work!!! wow was I surprised..)

Any examples of easily Retro-Fitting a Factory Option?

Mine would be the following, rub strip delete and LSD. Those are about the only two options I would have enjoyed and maybe heating in my sport seats.

I have a harness and everything i need out of a 89 to do a conversion to a digital dash and cruise, if I can not get my vacuum cruise sorted out to where it works as expected then i will do a conversion.

That is going to be a lot of work.

I really wish I had the parts to do the electronic headlight adjusters.

Getting your seats heated isn't hard. $200 a seat at a local upholstery shop should cover it. I am having my Explorer done Wednesday. Rebuild the foam and seat heater (hi/lo), $250.
Gonna have him look at redoing my seating surfaces in the front in leather as the PO re did them in vinyl as the leather was trashed. Not that the vinyl looks bad but butter soft leather and heaters would be nice along with a re done foam setup. Maybe a little firmer.

I put in aftermarket units in my corvette when I did it and they work very well, I may install the same kind in my 928, just depends on what Paul wants to use, but it must look stock as far as the switch goes.

I have back issues from spending 40 years bent over things trying to fix them, the heat really helps my back, the ones in the corvette get very hot.

Wish my sport seats were fabric center, and side bolsters in leather. Very minor nitpick.

LSD, 100% manual sport seats & no sunroof are the only options I would like to see on more 928's.

These cars are heavy enough already, no need to slap on a bunch of unnecessary options like 90 speaker systems and 45 way power seats.
Hell, at 345bhp for the GTS even the extra 16V's are unnecessary weight

No rub strips
LSD
5 Speed
Sunroof delete
Sport suspension
All leather would have been nice, but after 26 yrs it probably would have looked like $hit anyway!

I know where you'd find seats like that. The car was originaly shipped to Japan and now lives in Western Canada.

My 89 dose not have rear A/C but thats cool, It dose not have heated seats and that is cool as well I think it has everything else but then I am new to these cars and don't really know.
I like it exactly the way it is, except for the needed repairs and perf upgrades.
They even left the big H4 lamps in it when it came in from Japan to canada, I thought they were going to remove them.
That lumbar option sound nice, dose anyone have a picture that they can show me of it.
Thanks
Brad

I would think that the only 12 way seats that are sport seats would be ones that have been converted.
Is that correct, in that the sport seats only came from the factory as eight way seats?

On my 78, the only option (unavailable to that model) that I really wanted was a trunk release. I reto-fitted a release from an 88 with a 944 console trunk switch from eBay.

Real sports seats should be 100% manual, like the ones in my 81

I thought the 928 was built for comfort?

I want a even more way seat, a adjustable head rest, side bolsters like the sport seats, heaters, AC, speakers.
