Default Need Help....928 Euro engine

My father gave me a 1985 928 Euro (ROW) ... it is in mint condition. Too good to be true?????

It was

Three days in.. the thrust bearing went and milled the block.

I have looked for a 928 Euro Engine ... no luck.

I desperately need a 1985 Euro Engine. Can anyone out there point me in the right direction?

I am fighting the urge to get a wrecked 1985 and put a common porsche 1985 928 engine w/harness.

Please Help!!!

Check with 928 international, they may have one. I think they have their half off sale on used parts. Is your car an Automatic?

Shipping any distance will cost as much as the block, where are you?

I don't think there are any "special" things about a Euro S block, so you could either reuse your S rotating assembly (Pistons are special) in a common 4.7L block or fly cut the pistons in a US 85/86 short block and use your heads etc on it.

If you locate a used engine, it is critical that you pull the heads and inspect for damage to heads and block. If it has sat for any length of time the asidic coolant can easily have ruined the engine. Probably the case in more than half of the old engines out there that have sat around for a few years.

I think you can put your pistons and top end onto a US 4.7 long block. Prolly looking at a couple hundred bucks for a US 4.7 block. Or you could do the hybrid thing and build on a 5.0 block. Also, you can put your Euro S top end onto a 4.5 long block, but the results will not be as satasfactory.
A wrecked US '85 will lead to a big project as that is a 32V motor and you will find lots of differences. If you were gonna go that far you could just go directly to a S4 motor.
Are you sure you killed the thrust bearing? That is something we usually hear about happening on S4 and later automatics.

we have a euro 4.7 block being pulled right now that we are going to sell.
I think the best idea is just to get a cheapo 4.7 block (no pistons) and put all your stuff in it.
that would be a cheap build!

HI
About the oversea shipping, just pay me regular USA shipping(like LA to NY), I will cover rest of them.

The only things practical to ship are smaller parts, not the engine block, but the heads, cams, and intake system might find buyers. Regular shipping in the USA cross country would be about as much as the motor would sell for in most areas of USA.

Until its apart the condition which sets the value much more than mileage cannot be determined.

My parted '84 Euro S is still in the Louisville area. Not sure where you are. It is a 5 spd so I am not sure what would need to be done??? When I sold it, its entire top end was parted, What remained was the block, crank and pistons.
