Nah, that's a short trip in a 928. I drove the Saudi car home from Va. after taking the train overnight from Atlanta the night before. The drive from Va. was pretty nice. Had I been able to sleep at all the night before it would have been much better. Make a long weekend out of it and it would be perfect. I hope to see you there.

Wish I could join you guys - I lived in Roswell for 18 years, and remember seeing Hennessy being built, and subsequently bought all my 928 parts from them. San Diego to Roswell ( I have done the drive in reverse in my '81 when i moved out here) , is a great run, but not a weekender, unfortunately.
Enjoy the day.

You know, this is a real problem. I can understand a day. I can understand that Atlanta has 8 plows, but we're going on day 3 here and people need to get on with things.
I may have missed some news, but I think our civic leaders are failing us big time. We should be borrowing and sharing resources with nearby cities (Chattanooga? Nashville?) and have them help out for a couple days.
This is nowhere near as severe as Katrina - not in the same league - but similar in the respect that our highly paid government is once again unprepared and not able to address their responsibilities...
I'm going to have to call city hall and tell them "No, I DON'T have four wheel drive on my Porsche".

The Weather Channel says it will be sunny from tomorrow through Saturday with temps above freezing every day so all that nasty snow should be long gone by then.
Here's a pic of the goodies the 928 OC sent for door prizes. Hmm, I needs me one of those hats.

Hi Mike,
Just happened to check in on the List this afternoon (hardly ever get the chance anymore) and saw your post for this gathering at Hennessy. We're in Peachtree Corners, so not too far away. I think I should be able to join you guys on Saturday. For now, I'm planning on it. Hope to see you then.

I wasn't on I85, rather I was in Roswell (where Hennessey is) and went down GA400 to about I285.
This afternoon the highways were at 80% - mostly pavement with some areas where there's ice covering the left lane, or the strip between the on ramp and the highway. I wasn't doing the usual 70-80 mph, but with light traffic I was at 60-70 mph. A high degree of caution as there are occasional ice patches.
At this point, it's the side streets that are an issue, although GA400 down Mansell Road to Hennessey is fine.

AHH, HENNESSY, INDEED!
The fine folks at Hennessy Porsche North Atlanta have invited us to a 928 tech session at their dealership on Mansell Road in Roswell, Ga. on Saturday, January 15th. This Porsche dealership has a service team that knows and appreciates the Porsche flagship 928. Jack Swint, Hennessy's Porsche Gold Meister Shop Foreman is a long time 928 owner and enthusiast. Mark Venti, the Gen. Mgr. and Jeff Corey, the Service Mgr. are looking forward to meeting us and our 928s.
Jack will be sharing some of his extensive knowledge of 928 maintenance and repair. Follow this thread for upcoming details of the tech session. Hennessy will provide something for us to munch on and perhaps a few other Porsche goodies. I'll be handing out a few treasures from the 928 OC as well as membership forms for anyone that would like to join.
Make plans to be at Hennessy Porsche, 990 Mansell Road Roswell, GA 30076 on Jan, 15th from 2:00 to 5:00 PM. To see their lot below lined with 928s would be a beautiful thing.

Please send my best to Jack! I brought BOTH of my 928's by Hennessey, TO JACK, for PPI's... before driving back to TX... solo!
IIRC, he had over 200K miles on one of his own 928's.
I have referred others to him over the years -- a couple of whom have even posted in this thread!
All, happy Porsche owners (OK, to the best of my knowledge!!)
I had wanted to reconnect with Jack when I was back in ATL in October working the Petit Le Mans, but was not able to break away from Braselton (what was I thinking??)
We are fortunate, in the DFW area, at Boardwalk Porsche, to also have a Gold Meister Porsche Shop Foreman who has FACTORY training on the 928 model, since before Porsche first started rolling them out, back in the 70's!
It is refreshing to still find those with factory training who really know, and love, their biz!
Post Pics!

POSTPONED
I received notice this morning that the event will have to be postponed due to weather. The facility has been closed for three days due to the icy roads and they will be using Saturday as a regular work day to catch up with their schedule. I will advise as soon as a new date is set. Please spread the word to everyone you know who may be planning to attend.
