Yes, I've walked all around the car, opened the hood. Best I can tell is from the back half somewhere. I did not smell the exhaust though, I'll do that when I get home tonight. Maybe a mouse climbed into the tail pipe and the hair is long gone, leaving just the meat to cook. Although I think a little bit of hard revving (done nearly every day :-) would push anything out.

I've also got an '86...I found a friggin very comfy nest in and around the intake/throttle body. The 85/86 32v intake has so many nice cozy nooks and crannies. In my car they used nice fiberglass insulation (as a general contractor lots of proper building materials at hand). Upon discovery I nearly lost my !@#$#@!$%$# mind!!!! Maybe you have a comparable situation. shine a Flashlight down in there and check. The little bastard may have been cooked...I hope.

Smells like steak cooking. All I get is the smell of partially burned hydrocarbons. So what was the problem, you got something against steak?

My brother accidentally ran over a skunk when he was 16 with the famlies 280Z, and the skunk got lodged between the tailpipe and the unibody. He thought he got the pieces of skunk out but there was still a good portion of him broiling down under. That didn't smell like steak.

Do you have any prank pulling neighbors? Jeremy Clarkson put raw meat on Captain Slow's exhaust manifold as a prank on a recent episode of Top Gear.... Though they were driving through lion infested African wilderness....

Road kill is fine, just don't ever run over a plastic grocery bag... They glue instantly catylatic converters and NEVER come off... Don't ask how I know...

One spring I was at the local Porsche mechanic. He asked if I wanted to see something funny. We walked over to the back of a 911. He lifted the rear bonnet and the entire engine compartment was stuffed completely full of dog food. The owner had brought the car in because it ran a little rough and lacked power when he took it out of winter storage.
