I can only image what's really going on inside my 200,000+ mile Audi Quattro that I take up to 7,000rpm as often as I can every time I drive it, even in snow storms.

Dear lord, I better park my entire fleet now and go buy a new Kia. Here I thought all this time German cars were a bit better than the domestic options like the 1991 Caddy I sold with 225k on the odo that would still burn the tires off the line and average 34mpg down the highway. What was I thinking.......

I'm sitting her next to Jim Page who is now paranoid about driving his 1996 Suburban home that still has the original water pump at 170,000 miles. Most of those miles were used as a vehicle tow vehicle, it's a basic 3/4 ton.

He's now reminiscing about the SAAB his customer purchased new and drove to 325,000 miles with the oringal timing chain before donating it (still running) to charity. That guy should have bought a lottery ticket.
In all fairness to Jags, even new ones seem to self ignite.

NOT GOOD...however I think a fresh Ni-Com coating could fix it with a slight overbore..... However it will probably be cheaper to source a good used engine than pay for all that work.....

hey Brian
this was the "sourced good engine" . i'm trying to help redshark1990(Luan) rebuild this 5.0. it is something he has decided he wanted done. when its a sbc it is more of a no brainer(read: more straight forward), it seems the porsche engine requires more attention and a bit of finese to get power and longevity.

Luan,
I know exactly who I am and do not need to hide behind poorly written innuendos.
You purchased a kit of parts specifying exactly what you needed by part number and quantity. Exactly the same list of parts and quantities on the Vertex web site.
We supplied the kit of parts exactly as per your requirement and as per the list on the Vertex web site. You then tell me that the list of parts you need that came from Vertex was wrong and that they had made a mistake in the quantity and that I should supply the additional parts at no cost. Sorry business does not work like that. If I make a mistake I put it right. In this case I did not make a mistake – you and Vertex did.

I supplied you the extra parts immediately including shipping at my expense - so you then had all the parts but did not want to pay for the extra parts I supplied and held payment of my invoice.

In this case I immediately offered you FULL refund of all your money PLUS the cost of shipping the kit back to me.
You told me you could not be bothered to re-order from Vertex and that you would pay my invoice. By paying the invoice AFTER you received the goods and fully knowing that they did not include the quantity of parts you additionally required, and turning down my offer of a full refund including return shipping, you consummated the transaction to your satisfaction.

I FAIL TO SEE HOW THAT IS BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE – I also can shout.

Due to your tone and aggressive emails I also informed you that I would prefer in future if you would not place any more business with my company – first time I have ever done that in 40 years.

If you have something to say at least have the ***** to tell the truth and not make slanderous statements.
Please remove that statement from this thread and I will do the same.
Roger

If any one thinks Roger does not go WAY out of his way to do the right thing, well to put it in plain words, YOUR NUTS.

You were offered a full refund, including shipping, not sure how much farther Roger could go to make you happy.

Must have been one hell of a set of emails for you to do that, cause I know that there are some folks you would rather not deal with.

You just can not please some folks.

Wondered when this one was going to come to a head.

Luan, you gave roger the information on a "kit" that is sold by another company. Roger went through the trouble of assembling that kit for you at a lower price. It's in no way his fault that you didn't take a closer look and see that the kit you ordered was for a 16v car, not a 32v. Then you want an extra 16v worth of parts for FREE.

I'd have told you to fvck off way sooner than Rog did.

Those were not there when you picked up the motor and said this was a "good block" and they certainly were not there when I inspected the block.

You're "trying to help" redshark take a perfectly good block with no scarring anywhere to coffee table status. This is thread is so full of bull****, I don't know where to start. I do not pretend to be an engine builder, you obviously do.

Those are weird looking scratches. I don't understand why they weren't spotted before the block was sent to the machine shop. Every 928 motor I have disassembled or seen disassembled or even seen before disassembly had cylinders walls that were scrubbed clean enough by the rings to spot this already. Before we pull the crank and pistons we rotate the crank and inspect the cylinders to see if it's even worth taking apart.

Another landmark lesson in if it ain't broke don't fix it. Just drive the car and be happy.

That is a nasty scratch (or scratches). Motorworks did a 944 block for me and re-alusilled it. It turned out excellent. Something ain't right there...

Default PARTS ORDERED

First of all ,Vertex i contacted before Roger had shipped the parts, the 32v kits comes with 32 valve guides. I even forwards the e-mail to Roger from Vertex stating that s4 kit came with 32 valves guides.....I sent Rogers that and he does not even response the the forwarding E-mails,severals.....call Vertex and they will say the same thing....Dont want my business then i will buy from Mark Anderson. I think he and the staffs are superbs-just ask them i have bought lots of parts from them. Rogers, i still have not heard from the injectors i bought from you that does not take any clipping from factory. Do i need to groove them or return for the different one???? Check Vertex or call who is wrong about the 32valve s4 kit-as their website does not show everything....Remember i paid for things, give away things but never like people calling me a liar. Sean call and ask before jumping in with this!
