Oh god that reminds me of this 240sx guy I saw last summer, his 'ground effects' flew off at about 110 mph , causing me to spill my tea as I laughed..
At least no double sided tape was involved in your spoiler mod. We have too many 'calming zones' around here for that, but looks sexy.

Can't say how much force it would take, it is real stiff anchored to the body at 5 points, no problem at 110 I hope Ed weighs in, I'm sure he has better info.

I have no doubt this splitter will stay in tact at high speeds, just curious what kind of force it would take before the splitter starts to flex up or down. IIRC this splitter is anchored pretty far back so I know it's very secure.
I'm thinking worst case scenario some of those anchor lines going from the edge of the splitter at a 45 degree or so angle up to the bumper to secure it.
I really want one of these for my 79.

Glen,
Very nice, I did a splitter project also. Yours extends farther forward than I went with mine, the crappy roads and steep angles here in Vermont would be a killer at that length. At least we do not have to worry about speed bumps here. BTW, I noticed that my car ran cooler after I added the splitter.
Here is a photo of what I have on my car.

I saw this splitter in person at the Frenzy. It's a real beefy setup. 1/8" thick (?)
Re folding over, it think what is missing is what you can't see, which is the splitter exends under the spoiler. It's one continuous piece all the way back to the end of the spoiler.
I'm not sure how many PSI wind can generate @ X mph, but I hope Ed as worked that out, and will share what he now.
Glen,
This looks awesome! On your car in particular.
For the who haven't seen Glen's car in person, I reminds of a jet.
It's really cool!

Glen,
That looks awesome!!!
Very cool. Please report back soon to let us know if there's any ill effects from street driving. My car isn't even lowered and I have trouble with many parking lot entrances and even changes of pavement levels.

Brian, that will chew up a lot of the max $500 in a LeMons car unless you can successfully tag it as a safety item, right? Don't want to lose another 700 laps on someting like a splitter investment...
I had a chance to look at the splitter at Frenzy, and it is one beefy piece. Not quite strong enough to have little front wheelie casters on, but close.

Thanks for the nice post Glenn! The splitter is quite strong and can hold up to at least 120-125 mph without "folding under". The pics show the design and why it can't.i didn't put actual weights on it but that's as fast as I wanted to go on the interstate at that time. It is made from .125 aluminum and has all the brackets and stainless steel hardware needed for installation. It is mounted to the car not the plastic spoiler and put no load on the plastic spoiler at all.It is necessary to drill through the bottom of the plastic spoiler and the brackets fit inside of it.

Ed, beautiful work, first of all! no doubt. Scot will want one of these as soon as he finishes his fender work and expenses.
However,
wanna see what happens to a splitter at 120mph without supports? could be dangerous expecially how soft the air dam material is.
the short splitter that someone has here is fin, but this widerdeeper splitter could end up under your car at 120mph.
I know you used .125 thick aluminum, but put a camera on the splitter and drive 120mph and see what it is doing.
I have a feeling, having done a lot of video at that speed with my "thinner " designs, that it could be a problem.
one wire up front or a support bracket will work.

After much debate the 928 Estate is officially retired from "crap can" racing...its just really difficult keeping the car running and staying within the "rules" of the budget...well that and the fact that I put a new transmission with LSD in the car
It is moving on to race with the "real" racers in NASA GTS2 class, where I will be competing against other spec series racers like Spec E30 and Spec 944 & the Estate already is competitive in terms of lap times against those racers!
