I noticed while installing an X-pipe last month that the RMB I installed in June 99 is now rusted through near the clamps on both pipes. There was also large chunks of rust or carbon flaking off inside which couldn't be good for exhaust flow. The car has been in Houston the entire time. I'm assuming the RMB was made out of the same type of aluminized material as the X-pipes.
Maybe this is no surprise to anyone, 10 years is a long time, but something to think about if you plan on keeping your car for many years as I do.
There was a recent discussion of aluminized vs stainless on this
Thread and it convinced me I didn't need stainless for the X-pipe, but now I'm wishing I had forked out the extra $150.
I could reinstall the stock rear muffler, but since I have the large resonators, the sound levels with the RMB and no cats is just about right.

Those pics of 25 year old factory exhaust pipes and fittings is all you need to know about the proper choice of materials for 928 exhausts....
