But James, if you get the 996 TT, you'll just be breaking it faster. Remember, plastic gets softer as it get hotter.

your mom had a chrome toaster. It had chrome that looked like liguid mercury. It toasted two slices of toast...everyday for years and years. It originally came with a round, cloth covered electical cord, but lasted for so many years that the cord had been replaced many times.
Believe it or not, I bought one of these at a garage sale about 10 years ago and we still use it (today). My Dad, (then age 75) tinkered with it for about 2 minutes and got it working and we promptly started using just because it was so cool. Its kinda wierd how getting older makes you see things differently. Bruce

TTs are bulletproof and the only way to go. 997 has a lot of issues too, a few has RMS and lots of issues with their automatics or whatever its called.

Hey Steve

Too bad the 928 didn't work out for you. I hope the new car treats you better The 996 is a used supercar as well and not immune to issues and not as shadetree-mechanic friendly as the 928, so cross you fingers!

Where did the 928 end up? Did it go to a Rennlister?

It didn't go to a Rennlister, sorry. I actually traded it in at a used car dealership. They gave me 7 grand. I lost 4 grand on this deal and I'm pretty upset about that.

I could hear the rear passenger wheel bearing beginning to go as I was trading it in. That car scared the hell out of me.

It's a shame to, I've always wanted a 928. I was so excited to get it. It just gave me too many problems too soon.

You guy's have been GREAT!!!

I'm still a Rennlister...just now a 996 Rennlister.

Stay in touch fellas.

Too bad! It's like it has been released into the wild. Who knows how it will be when it returns to the rennlist care.

You east coast guys should watch the dealer auctions and see where it ends up.

I suspect he got a car "discounted" by $7k with his 928 as trade-in, and impulsively jumped on it for the sake of simplicity/immediacy.

Interesting 996 he bought - regular 996 with GT3 side skirts, and GT2 front bumper? Hope he had a PPI done.

When I made the $7K offer, I thought that he would probably get $4-5K from a dealer for the car. I'm guessing that he could have paid a couple grand less for the 996 if he wasn't trading in the 928. Who knows, maybe he found a dealer who really likes 928s

As soon as you sit down, most dealers ask if you are trading anything in. Why do you think that is?

Once I negotiated a deal with a dealer and then told him that I have trade it. His reaction was, "why didn't you tell me this first?". MY smart a$$ reply way..."why... does it really matter?" Right after this, the deal fell apart.

I would be AMAZED if a dealer offer $7 on 23 year 928. They can move the numbers around so it looks like the trade-in is $7, but you will never know unless you do what I did.

Quick Reply: I'll take $8,500 from a Rennlister. I paid $11,000 3 months ago.
