Get a better mechanic. Sounds like he's throwing parts at it hoping ot fix the problem. This will get really expensive very fast but it probbly already has, right?

what kind of stereo was in there? What was the head unit? I might want to buy it if you took it all out.

Well, our mechanic is Brad Moyer at the Digital Chasis in Raleigh. Ask anyone on here who lives in Raleigh and they will tell you that he is the best. We started out with another mechanic, but didn't have alot of luck with him, so we then switched to Brad.

Yes, it has become extremely expensive.

Unfortunately, I have already sold it. It was a huge mix of brands. JL amps, I forget what brand of subs, an alpine head unit, a JL capacitor. I forget what else was in there...I have a pic somewhere that I will try to find.

Get a decent mechanic - I agree - Brad Moyer - never heard of him until your Father mentioned him. Certainly does not feature as a 928 mechanic. The original mechanic - Ray - has an excellent 928 shop and reputation. Maybe something else is going on here?

I think it needs a new rear bumper cover, got just as much chance of fixing it as any of the other parts you have thrown at it.

get it to a 928 mechanic who will test before replacing parts.
If they can not explain in plain words why a part was replaced, find another mechanic.

I know both mechanics involved and have some familiarity with this car. Ray recommended that the car be taken to Brad as he has some very specific electronic testing equipment that Ray felt would be better suited to troubleshooting the root cause of the problem. I know for a fact that the starter relay and O2 sensor were faulty and not replaced strictly as troubleshooting steps. Brad has not fully confirmed all of his theories on this issue yet, there may be more to come.

I think most of us understand that these cars have extremely intricate electrical systems and no start condition may actually be the result of several failures within multiple circuits.

Exactly! Ray knew that Brad had a diagnostic system that would be able to find the cause of the problem. The diagnostic system said that the computer was not operating properly....then it found this most recent problem. Both Brad and Ray are very knowledgeable 928 mechanics, and like anything else, both have more knowledge in different aspects of the car. Ray = mechanical. Brad = electrical.

Always good to have someone like that around! Similar story with Brad, who used to be a software engineer or something like that, I'm not sure. Nevertheless, I have been very happy with him.

Sounds like you may have learned WHY your GTS was for sale...... The question about the flex plate is because some of the symptoms sound much like the dreaded thrust bearing failure which ruins the engine......It is time to have a mechanic check the crankshaft end play.
