Rob,
Unless you have chenged the calipers on the front you have S4 brakes.

Brad,
Likewise - did you put bigger GTS calipers on your car?

Unless someone changed them at some point they were S4 from 86.5 through 91.
Big Blacks were fitted at the factory from 92 onwards on GTS cars.

Brad,
The best street pads are Hawk Street Plus - I regularly brake from a buck 50 to nothing and absolutly no fade. No noise and very little dust.
Yes I stock them.

Thanks Roger ILL measure the rotors to see if they were ever changed.
From what I can see stock is 302 mm and GTS is 322 mm

For any of you that are still wondering, check out this page and it should help you understand what brakes are what.

what brakes do you have

You guys crack me up.

Unless you have a GTS you have S4 brakes.

Fvck me, get to know your cars and what they are supposed to have. Paint them pink, and you have Big Pinks.

Funny Sean..........I was thinking same.......the instant age of info..........right or wrong.

For those who dont know all brake information can be found in the Porsche Workshop Manuals, the Porsche Technik booklets and much much more all readily available and cheap.

Rob..........if you look at other sites you'll see the full line of brake pads manufactured by Hawk for the 928

Hawk Street
Hawk Street Plus
Hawk Blue Race

I personaly use RBR ceramic pads, all 4 corners with cast in hole rotors, all 4 corners, a 33 bar bias valve and ATE brake fluid..........car stops like it hit a wall and.............I bought all the parts from Roger.

I have no idea what the PO did to the car.

And thanks, but I've had better offers......and yes, lately.

With all due respect....Bite Me.

The Hawks should be here this week from Rog, now I'm trying to justify the Zimmerman rotors....

I was just trying to make sure what the difference was between the calipers before I head for divorce court......

And the previous post was having a poke in fun at Jeff for the "in confused" comment......

To tell if you have BIG blacks/big reds or standard S4 brakes on the front, measure the pads. The S4 pad is 48mm tall, the big Red/Black is 58mm tall (not long). Also the rotor for the S4 has a 304mm diameter the Big Red/Black is 322mm in diameter.

Hope this helps, and Sean, we were all noobs once!

Some of us continue to be noobs Had to look up on Rennlist yesterday how to remove the airbox off a friends '83 "euro" CIS car.. made me appreciate the simplicity of my 32V cars

Back on topic - I just fitted a set of Zimmerman rotors to my 89 which I've had on the shelf for 2 years since I bought them from Roger.

Before fitting, I painted the sides of the hat and edges of the rotor with some VHT high-temp caliper paint to avoid the rusty look. Yeah, its all about the bling baby!

Now this sale has me considering buying another set to fill the empty space on the shelf (actually one of my other S4's will need them soon.. hmm.. might need 2 sets).
