Wiring in the other connector to my harness is always an option too.

I have a source for new blank connectors, just need to find the board side.

Can this new brain work with a MAP sensor instead of a MAF???

I would also like one when done, this type of project really appeals to me.

If you could make this a "one size fits all" base version that would apply to all years and be programmable then you would sell a ****load.

Interesting, but redundant. Why not just use a Megasquirt III and spend your efforts on the harness adapter and the tuning? I'm not trying to be a downer, it's cool that you are trying to do this, but I just see it as unecessary.

I made a couple of 35 pin Bridgits (before I gave up making them, too much labor). I sourced the male and female connectors from late 80's early 90's Mercedes ABS brains/harness. Fairly inexpensive at U-Pull prices. Getting the board side is a challenge, however, as ABS boxes are very solidly built.

Esentially yes, if the MAP sends an analogue voltage in the same range as the MAF then it will work, maybe need some software tweaking but quite doable

If you could make this a "one size fits all" base version that would apply to all years and be programmable then you would sell a ****load.
The next revision I can make a one size fits all, and I will provide as much as I can manufacture

Reason 1: I want a plug-in replacement, that fits inside housing and is USB tuneable
Reason 2: Megasquirt will work out more expensive (I did consider it)
Reason 3: Because I can ...nuf sed

Later I will post the schematics and hopefully have time to post pictures also.

One thing that I want to ask some electronic savvy people here, and that will make my life a lot easier. I need a shot of an oscilloscope with the EZK Pulses on one channel and the Injector output on the second channel. I am specifically looking for the timing of the injectors relative to the EZK pulses. Preferably at idle-ish (1000-1500rpm) and if possible a second shot at higher rpm (2500-3000). Of course shots from a working s4

I like Step 1-6!

Pinouts for both the LH and EZK can be found on the link in my signature. Very interesting. I'm pretty sure you cost estimates are way low, but even at $500US, it might be worth it.

Another potentially interesting aspect. I am not satisfied with the CIS on my OB and would like to move forward. I would lean towards MS3, however I would like to end with the same thing on my S4 and my OB, so I can use the same tools and such on both. So that leads me towards trying to put LH/EZK on my OB, so I could sharktune both. Which is a pretty expensive proposition. This might be a path for something that could be backfitted onto OBs, particularly if it could be set up for MAP. On the other hand, I think this is a pretty big project, and could easily be years in the works.
I may be able to help out a bit. I am EE and have access to all sort of test equiptment. On the other hand I am new to the LH and EZK and have very little available time.

Step 1, (7): Inter-operate with all major diagnostic test and tuning equipment (SharkTuner, Spanner, DT999/PDT999/DT928, etc.)

Nice project! I have thought about doing the same on and off years ago but just did not have the time.

Are you planning to also make a replacement for the EZK brain, or is this just for the LH 2.3? It really would be nice to be able to use either a MAF or MAP input.

, I think this is a pretty big project, and could easily be years in the works.
Go and read my first post, I'm just slow with making the updates here, I have a working version that starts and idles, and it cost me using current conversion rate $185 per unit

I may be able to help out a bit. I am EE and have access to all sort of test equiptment.
Ok awesome! Get a scope, channel 1 = pin 1 on LH (the one that is offset), channel 2 = pin 18 (the one on the other end of the connector), take picture of scope at idle, and take picture at 3000rpm, and then post here.

Step 1, (7): Inter-operate with all major diagnostic test and tuning equipment (SharkTuner, Spanner, DT999/PDT999/DT928, etc.)
That one will take time, I need to re-implement the protocolls and its a lot of effort.

Are you planning to also make a replacement for the EZK brain, or is this just for the LH 2.3?
At the moment my EZK is working fine, so no immediate plans to make EZK replacement. Maybe sometime in future.

But ok, on to step 3

Step 3: Schematics

Here are low resolution pic of my schematics, I made it low res on purpose, I don't want other people stealing my design and making money out of it.

First Image is page 1-4 of the schematics, second image is page 5-8.

Page 1: CPU
Page 2: EEPROM
Page 3: Power
Page 4: Outputs
Page 5: Digital Inputs
Page 6: Analogue Inputs
Page 7: LEDs, USB and Serial
Page 8: Connector

The third image is the PCB layout, blue is bottom layer, red is top. This board is made using only 2 layers. Most probably if I make second version I will have to go 4 layers to make enough space to route for different connectors.

Next step is making the actual PCB, populating and soldering
