Dude! There are something like a dozen good 928 mechanics on the planet. You live a very short distance from one of them. Work it out.

Stephan has paid these guys money to fix his car, i think they need a shot at doing that, but they should not charge him again IMHO.
I am trying to help the guy working on it, but not much I can do over the phone but try to recommend some things.

Thank all of you folks for recommending me.

Your wife sounds like a smart woman. You apparently don't have the knowledge, desire, or time to work on the car yourself. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that itself. The shop that you're having work on the car apparently isn't knowlegable enough to do quality work on it. You say that you have no money. Combine all of that, and things go downhill fast. I guess it could be worse though. You could have two 928s.

Sorry if this was a little blunt, but unless you change at least one of those things mentioned above, there's going to be more stress related to the car in your future.

Thanks guy's. And yes beer take a priority over a WSM! I have been at work, thank god the courts dried and I was able to coach today.

I called the shop from work and the MGR stated that they were coming up with a plan and they were going to get back to me on how many hrs of labour I would owe them. A thousand sixty later and I am looking at more cost. I may be a bumb jock but I am not that dumb. I will be picking the car up tomorrow and getting it to Greg. I know he will take care of me.

I would have done it sooner but that 60 miles is more like a 1 1/2 drive going through Atlanta and my wife has to follow me which turns into 3 hrs there and back with a 4 and 6 yr old in the car!

Mark I can drive the car. When it is cold it will shift into gear, the clutch feels great and releases properly thru the gears. As it warms up the gears clash but if you turn the car off at a stop light, I can then put it into gear start the car and go. As time goes on 2nd and third won't let you in so I start in second, rev to 4k and shift into 4th and drive around. 4th and 5th are fine.

Tom Thanks so much for the email!

Everyone else I would also like to thank!

Stephan talked to me about doing the work first, and i do understand about the time issues, from where he is at it would be a four hour trip, twice by the time it was said and done.

I hope that the sychro's have not been damaged by all of this.

Stpehen, remember to bring the old cylinders with you.
Did they modify the slave?

Before dragging the wife and kids on a road trip I would look at some bus schedules.

The bus, that is not a bad idea. Money is a issue when you have two kids, a stay at home mom etc etc. It just seems that when things go wrong it is just not in one area of my life. Maintaining my car usually isn't an issue and I try to put 3 to 5 k in it every year. There are some other issues like law suits against greedy people who want to steal from me and my family and then I need to pay a Att a grand a month for who knows how long to get them in front of a Judge!

Thats life, so it is waht it is. I will work it out and I will not sell my car! It is the only thing that I have for myself. I hope as a car guy you understand this. I should have brought it to Greg from the start, lesson learned.

Greg I will call you tomorrow.

I know it probably seems it will take more or your time to take it to Greg and his hourly rate is possibly higher, but you will make both time and $ back many times. You can possibly come out ahead in $$ (or at least even) by doing it yourself, but paying someone who does not know the car is a money and time pit and will only lead to frustration and sorrow. I've learned this lesson so hard so many times that pretty much nobody but me touches my cars anymore.

Good luck. All these things: kids, cars, wife can feel like too much, though they are all amazing blessings. It sure seems to gang up, though don't it. It is even worse when there is more than one project car/house/etc. They all fly apart at the same time.

Thanks Karl. I hear you. We moved here 5 month's ago and I had no job. Things are working great and I am very happy with the move. I just seems like when you are making progress things like DR's, Dentist's, repairs and a boat load of other smaller things smack you in the face. We will be fine, life is a struggle and if it isn't, get down on your knee's and that someone for your blessing's!

The bright side of this is that the car can and will be fixed, it is not like somebody is shooting at you.
Things could be a lot worse.
