Question Buzzer key warning contact ???

Does anyone has an idea how the buzzer warning device looks like ?
Is it part of the ignition keylock ?

I wanted to restore wire connections of the buzzer (placing an aftermarket buzzer) but it doesn't work ..

Normally one end is connected to PLUG A, pin 7 (A7) : red/black wire under dashboard.
And the other end is connected to the relay (pin 85) behind center console : red/black wire.

I found end of wire coming from plug A7, but the end of wire coming from relay could not be found.

Gerrit,
It would help if you added the year of your car.
On the early cars the buzzer was in a relay.
Relay position IX IIRC.

Question

Roger,

good point. My car is of 1980 and it is a EURO. I have a black relay just behind the radio. Is this the relay that also contains the buzzer ?

If so, where should I then connect the end of the wire coming from plug A7.
According to my scheme above I should connect this end to the key contact, not ?
But how ?

Gerrit,

As I understand it all the key, seatbelt etc buzzer functions reside in the relay. Seems most owners, including my car's PO, removed the relay because the noise is annoying and the relay can be expensive, $75 in the U.S.

Jim,

apparently the relay is not working...but perhaps because the wire coming from the fuse/relayboard (wire from plugA, pin 7) is just hanging under my dashboard.
Thus not connected.
Where should I connect this wire ? To one of the 3 major plugs behind the POD ?
Of somewhere near the ignition key area ?

Gerrit,

I am not going to be much help here. The wiring diagram above is different from what is shown for the US models. Our seat belt relay is mounted to the CE/ relay panel.

Is there a small two -wire connector that is plugged into the barrel of the aluminum structure? With pod removed, isn't it on the same member that holds the lockset?
I thought that this little wire plug represented / attached to the embedded key detection switch. I'm not certain though.

Wink

Well, after investigating furtherly I discovered the following :

the Seat Belt relay behind the radio is part
911.618.10201

That doesn't seem to be correct.... it should be a 928. -part

So when unplugging this relay completely I discovered that some pins were missing ! There is no pin G and 85 :

Normally this should be the correct relay :

And the correct relay has a builtin buzzer

So problem is solved when getting the correct relay. So the wires (3 red/black wires) under the dash are extra and not needed all other things are working. They are coming from the contact switch. I will isolate them with tape.

Has anyone had problem with this relay making a buzz sound while driving. The buzz sound varies with RPM. I took it out and the annoying sound went away.
