Hans, could you put a link in your sig to purchase information (price, how to order, etc.) and/or update the first post in this thread with that information.
Also, I can't remember if you still plan to pursue the 6.5" replacement. I have a collection of DVD-Audio and DTS multi-channel and a headunit that can play them (too bad these formats failed to catch-on), so I do use the rear speakers.

Bill,
New thread coming soon with retail information... I am setup to become a sponsor, so will be able to post. Just want to get everything squared away first, and have nice quality pictures.... etc.
Any yes, I have moved forward and authorized production of matching 6.5" drivers... although as you know, on the 89+ cars it requires destructive modifications to get them to fit in the original frames. I looked into producing new grills for these drivers, and was not cost effective to have them injection molded. I may pursue another method, such as casting them, but have a couple other projects I am finishing up right now, like shift ***** and the console.
6.5" are about 90 days out by my simple math.
Thanks
Hans

I had a chance to demo the new crossover board last night. Was the first time I had a chance to hear all the components together. I am quite pleased with everything. It has more lower end extension than I was expecting, but definitely needs some assistance, either from a larger format driver in the rear b-pillar or in the form of a subwoofer.
Last night was just subjective listening, but I will take some measurements tonight when I get home, and see how it really performs with the new crossovers.
I did a pretty comprehensive test session last night, and these drivers really favor jazz and acoustic music, vocals were exceptional, as are woodwinds and other reed instruments.
There was about a 2-hour break-in on the crossover networks before they settled down. I did not do much listening of "aggressive" music last night as the crossovers were still settling in and were a bit on the bright side. I hope to do some more listening tonight (while I build crossovers).
I will make sure to include notes with the official product release thread and the instructional documentation, but do expect a minimum of a 2-hour break-in for the crossovers. The voice of the system at first power up was quite bright and almost "brittle" sounding (this is out of character for the silk domes used in this project), at about 1:15 the system became much more mellow, and about 2:00 it was ready to start some more critical listening. I anticipate that these may need even longer for them to settle completely. My point in writing this is dont be alarmed if they dont sound right the moment you fire them up... think of them as a new pair of loafers, they dont really get good till you walk around in them a couple days.
I will try and provide a break-in service for people who think they will need it. I have a decent rig here that can break-in 18 crossovers at a time.
The drivers themselves also have a bit of a break-in period because of the cloth surrounds. I may be able to provide break-in for the crossovers, but unlikely to be able to broadly provide the service for the drivers. However I will make arrangements if necessary to send broken-in sets when/if necessary.
Thanks for listening (pun intended).

Hans, there is a good spot for a judicious MidBass Driver at the very front lower corner of the doors. I have been happy with that location in the past. Perhaps one could add bass here?

for those who are patient, there very well could be a 6.5" driver coming to a door near you
ST -
Its a matter of some debate in the audio community (I do believe that there is such a thing as break or burn-in) that it takes some time for the foils used inside the capacitor to kind of settle into operational duty. A lot of people say that the only thing that burns-in is your hearing and how you get used to a different setup. I can support that argument as well, but I can tell you that in my opinion there is a huge difference after an initial break-in period. Guess we will have to conduct a poll after people receive these and see what independent testing confirms. I will try and A/B compare a fresh crossover to the one I broke in last night and see what that tells us.
Thanks

Been keeping busy. Spent ~4hours or so last night building crossovers. Getting close to getting these out the door. Evidence attached (please ignore messy shop).

I know I shared with some via PM and email, but dont think I posted. I have over 50 crossovers completely assembled. I am going to get more done over the weekend. Would like to have 100 ready to go. I originally planned on machining the black ABS bottom plates, and the clear polycarb upper plates... but the CNC router had different plans. I had an absolutely terrible yield. there was at least a 40% loss rate. the vacuuum bed wouldnt hold down the material for whatver reason, and the bits kept getting clogged for some unknown reason....
So I switched over to laser cut parts instead. This added another time delay (my apologies) as the supplier had to order in the material for the job. I understand the material is on the way, and that my lids should be on the way next week.
I do have a couple of the useable plates from the machine test-run. If anyone is in desperate need for theirs, I could ship them out as soon as tomorrow with the few plates I have here. Just let me know.
As soon as the plates get here, and I have finished assembled units on the shelf, I will close this thread, and open the official product release and support thread.
If you do need your speakers now, email me at hans@projectninellc.com and I will send them out on a first-come, first-serve basis with the parts I have. The plates I have now are a smoked plastic top (vs clear) and a smooth black lower (vs textured ABS).
Looking forward to getting these in your guys' hands, and some feedback.
Thanks

Still have some machined plates left if someone want a kit now. Laser cut plates are still in the works. The bottoms were cut last week, but there was a material issue for the lids, so new stock was ordered.
Anyhow, if anyone wants a set, they could ship tomorrow with the gloss bottoms and smoked tops.
Thanks
