I have a good local friend who owned a 997 but sold it and switched back to '85 911.

He said the 997 was more modern & better car, but according to him it didn't have same "spirit". He says he's happier now... but I'm sure he has good use for the extra cash too.

I love Vettes but I would take a pristine GTS over '08 Vette any day of the week.

James is correct. My car is a '99 FRC and is a pretty nice car, but it still isn't a 928. As of tomorrow though, it'll be back on it's way to Texas.

I'm sure i'll be wanting for the acceleration of my corvette for a bit, but, I've been told this car dynoed 302/296 back when Mark Robinson owned it. So, I may not actually be left wanting much to be honest.

It will be more than fast enough to get you in trouble young man!

Where in TX is the Vette headed? So, funny how that went...seems to happen a lot to cars I know...that first GTS I ever saw (zermatt silver) came to TX from OK and then was sold a few years later and went back to OK...

Houston area. It'll be a track car mainly.

I'm usually driving like a grandpa, so I doubt I'll get into much trouble with this car. Now, once it's getting some boost, all bets are off.

Well, I now have a very large empty spot in the garage where my corvette used to occupy. Kinda sad seeing it go, but I'm looking forward to the 928. It has been TOO long since I've had my old car. I've talked with James for who knows how long about getting another, and now it's finally gonna happen!

Looks like the work has started with the car. Mark is busy with the stereo wiring, and we have added a custom RMB to the list or "to-dos". The car currently has two large resonators in place of the rear muffler section. Yep, GONE!

Looks like the interior will be complete by the weekend or next week at the latest, with next to NO issues!

Update...

Looks like the interior is going to be completely done by this weekend. Mark took the time to fix a few things while he was in there. Small stuff that was bugging him really, he seems to be great with his attention to detail. The interior was COMPLETELY blown apart minus the dash and console I believe. The rear quarters and the door panels have been swapped out, the entire stereo re-wired, etc. I think the only thing he is looking for now is a 5-speed shift **** and boot. Anyone have a GT/GTS style **** and boot laying around in black?

Let's see, it also is starting to get some paint/bodywork. The front and rear bumper covers are off the car and getting prepped for paint. One of the fenders had a dent in it, and I'm not sure if Mark was just going to repair that, or swap out for a straight panel instead, and just paint it.

Once I get pictures they'll be posted!

Just see if you can borrow something really slow for a week or two. My 928 was down for about 4 days waiting on an alternator. Drove my wife's 2L 8 valve Jetta for a few days. Got back in the 928 this morning and the old 16V 84S felt like a race car.

I've been driving the wife's Cayenne around so long as she doesn't need it for the day or what have you. I'm generally driving like a grandpa and I really don't speed around that much.

I do think that having something that actually has power and doesn't weigh two tons will be nice to drive again!

Sorry for the delay in pictures... I should have some of the interior on Monday with just the seats left to go back in. Stereo is finished with Alpine coaxial speakers in the rear quarters and an Alpine HU. Rear quarters and door panels look awesome. The carpet is also in excellent condition. What's left:

Strip and paint bumper covers
Paint hood and front fenders
Reinstall calipers after painting, install new rotors, bleed brakes
Cut off the goofy resonators at the back and make an RMB for it
Get a new shift **** in there
Check front-end alignment
Install 18" 996 MY02 wheels with Yokohama 235/40 fronts and 275/35 rears
... probably a few other things here and there.

It is going to be a busy next two weeks! It is going to be hard to hand the keys over; I've never had a personal 928 for the street, and this is my dream 928! You are going to love it, Jon.
