'90 s4 runs for 1 min then just shuts off.

Default '90 s4 runs for 1 min then just shuts off.

Loses injector pulse, but has spark. Won't fire up again until the next day!

I'm thinking it's the factory alarm.

But just to be sure, when I check between ezk pin 13 and Lh pin 1, there should be ZERO resistance is that correct?

Not sure the issue - could be the alarm. I think you can disconnect it and it will still run. It;s located under the passenger seat.

Also, you might try following the LH/EZK test points in my signature.

replace the 4 power relays, check your grounds ,
and battery connections

I can't seem to find the alarm unit- I see nothing under passenger seat but motors.... would you happen to have a photo or part#?

Wasn't there someone else having a very similar issue recently? Can't remember if that ever got sorted out or not, but it was on the boards in the last few weeks.

Sorry... I was thinking you had a 91. I don't know where the alarm is on a '90.

I do see a box under the driver seat 928 618 240 00 I guess that's not it

I found the alarm... jumper 15 and 87- still no dice.

Doing some testing, I see that ezk pin 22 hall sender has no voltage... should it have 5 volts?


I also have no problem with signal from EZK to LH... and there is spark at the plugs.... just no injector pulse and no fuel pump (fuel pump runs when jumped)

And oddly enough, I'm sure that if I leave the car alone right now, and come back in the morning, it will start and run for a minute and then die.

It seems to be related to the grounds in the rear of the motor. Tomorrow I will remove the fuel dampers (sighhhh) and clean the connections well... I will also clean the motor ground. I replace the battery ground strap tonight.....

And one final note- I do notice that after I wiggle the harness by the MAF, where the grounds are, I can get the car to start- it still dies - but I can faithfully get it to at least fire up.... I did see that the tach is not functioning, and all the lights stay on on the dash (while running), and I mean ALL OF THEM. WTH!
