New issue of Popular Mechanics has an article about an upcoming Mythbusters episode. Any of you guys heard the myth that the 928 is more aerodynamic in reverse than driving forwards? I never have, but I guess with the whole reverse-teardrop shape, I can see where somebody might come up with that. Seems Jamie Hyneman called up Mike Allen of PM, and asked him how to test this myth. Allen says easy, put it in a wind tunnel backwards and compare the numbers. Jamie says he just wants to put the body on the chassis backwards so he can drive it and measure the fuel consumption, and recruits Allen to help.

The results are pretty gruesome, there are quite a few photos. You might want to pick up a copy, but either way, the episode is airing November 17 at 9:00 PM Eastern. I've already set my DVR, will report results.

You'd think it would be easier just to put an intermediate gear to give the car 5 speeds in reverse....

If it was .32 vs the normal .36 Cd I would be surprised.

gas mileage?? at 55mph, 1mpg is my guess.

Oh...cuz it'd be a bitch to drive in a straight line at any reasonable speed in reverse..you'd think?
