Default Rear hatch release question.

I have been doing some research and i believe i am missing something at my rear hatch release mechanism. I can pull my hatch open without releasing the button. I have to pull with a little force but not much. Also i cant lock it. I have seen on a ebay a plastic sleeve that i guess goes down in the hole that is suppose to cure these problems. Does anyone know what this is called so i can order one?

chris.

Yep, that's Roger's version of the hatch receiver insert. The insert saves you from having to replace the whole lock piece, which costs about four times as much, I believe. Porsche doesn't sell the inserts separately.

They guide the upper hatch lock piece such that it can latch properly. The old inserts wear out, break, or shrink over time. That allows movement between the lock pieces, and results in squeaks and rattles from the hatch.

Not only that, but Nicole failed to mention that she offers a factory-like hatch latch receiver liner that is much more like the original in that it is white, and not that translucent look the other vendor offers.

Finally, I too offer a redesigned version of this liner that is domestically fabricated in Black ABS plastic. Mine is a little more expensive, but I expect it will outlast either of the other two offerings. Time will tell. Mine is $40 plus $5 for domestic shipping.

Hi Chris,
We sell the product you show in your picture and it is awesome. Sold about 200 in the last 6 months with no problems at all. $28.50 plus $2.50 for First Class shipping.
You also may need to adjust the setting of the lower receiver once you put a new liner in it.
Best,
Roger

Three replacement options available for a part Porsche never chose to sell. Amazing!

Rog-(or anyone)-can you please point me to a thread or explain further what you mean by "adjust the setting of the lower receiver?"

I put in the new liner. The car now latches and stays locked; the motor turns correctly and cycles 1 time from either the driver's and passenger's side release but the actual hatch does not release.

Thanks in advance!

Michael
