Default Anyone know how to use an English Wheel?

Just like the subject says.

I think if an experienced person, or a quick learner got into the front fenders - that we could have some usable fenders that are just wide enough for more rubber.

Great idea. Check with a manfacturer of metal working equipment like Baileighs. Ontario California, wherever that is.

Find someone who already has one, and knows how to use it- otherwise, you'll have good fenders in about 10 years.....
Alternatively, find the guy Mark Anderson uses for his racecar- he can put a slice of aluminum in the fender and make nearly any amount of clearance you need, fairly quickly.

I'm pretty sure the English Wheel from Harbor Freight comes with instructions, shouldn't be too hard ...

One member here, Paul Hunt made his own, not sure if he could do a fender or not.
I would not be real shocked if he could though.

Very different and fickle craft, SVP, compared to a production, money making, well-run machineshop.
(Thanks again, BTW, from all 928's for the block repair contribution, that WAS you, right?)

Using an English Wheel is not the tough part... getting the paired fenders symmetrical is hard.

Default English wheel not needed

It would make it easier, but it can be done without it. I watched a body builder make a body, seat & fuel tank for Shirley Muldowney's top fuel car with next to no tools. Material was 3003h13 alloy aluminum.
This video is part of an instructional video that is available at the url shown in the video.

More videos about metalshaping available from
Ron Covell & Ron Fournier.

^^^^VERY cool, Jim, thanks. Artisans.

Brendan, somebody surely could semi-produce 928 fenders with a little modified curve!!! Great idea.

Here's another showing use of a stump. Its short, the video that is..

Wow that's amazing ... it's great to see such brilliant work using simple hand tools.
