nokian tyres
Just fitted a set of Nokian all weather tyres to the wifes Patriot.
Wondering if anyone out there has experienced the rubber on their suv?
Do they work on 928s?

Some locals have used both their studded and studless versions since first 928 came to Finland. Most versions work just fine as long as speeds are kept below 100-120mph. Only few now maybe decade old versions had some problems with too soft sidewalls for heavy car like 928. They will always be softer than normal summer tires but thats price we have to pay for good winter performance. As long as width is 225 or more there should not be any problems with currently available versions that I'm aware of.

Up here in the land of snow, Nokian are rated the best winter tire. Porsche dealers supply them as part of the winter wheel tire package. Outstanding on my Acura RDX and my C4S.

Nokian Hakkapellita snow tires are amazing on my Peugeot 505 with a limited slip diff. Never been stuck. Wouldn't want to drive the 928 in the winter. Salted roads.

I ran a set of Nokian WR's on my 02 XC70 for four years.
Last winter that car with those tires saved my life at least three times on a roadtrip through the worst snow storm I've ever driven through.
Highly recommended for winter use.

Friend of mine fitted his Audi Quattro with the Nokian dedicated snow's after about 15 years of running Blizzaks. He said they make the Bridgestones look like racing slicks (I'm sure a slight exaggeration....but point taken). Even after they wear down they don't fall off as fast.
I've talked with other people that said the Nokian all season tires actually work. Grip like a Blizzak in the snow and do not disintegrate in the summer.
I'll be switching the next round when the current Bridgestones wear out.

I have run Nokian WR's on my old Audi allroad, and it was unstoppable in the snow. I now run Hakka 5's on the Volvo XC90, and that is likewise unstoppable. Good snows on all 4 wheels make all the difference in the world. The investment in good winter tires is minimal compared to the risks. More important, in my opinion, than avoiding getting stuck, is the increased level of traction for steering and braking. Only fear I have of driving in the snow is the other drivers skidding cars around with inappropriate tires for the conditions. The 928 stays inside during the winter, but I am sure with the right winter tires, the 928 would do just fine, within the limitaions of it's ground clearance.

We have alpins on our 928, blizzaks on 2 Merkurs, winterforce on a 3rd Merkur - all rear drive if you don't know what a Merkur is. The alpins are a very good tire as far as even wear. The cheap Brazilian winterforce wear surprisingly well are OK in snow. The blizzaks have worn very strangely in some instances. I suspect belt problems as some have cupped in the center of the tread and they are very intolerant of toe problems. They are good in the snow.
