Now the doorlock **** needs to be
removed. First pry off the cover over the
**** with a thin screwdriver (or something
similar).


Ok..i pretty convinced that the PO glued this back on.


Now what.

 

Bust/ cut it off and get a new one? It interfaces with a white plastic mechanism on the rear that is probably not super strong, so a little careful. The mechansim it $37 new at intl, probably $10 to $15 used. The **** is $3 and the cap is $1.50.

Did you remove the screw in the middle, under the cap?

 

Yup..screw out..but juuust wanted to double check.

 

All is well. I discovered the sticktion element.

Hot Glue Gun.


The natural enemy of such..is HEAT gun. Came right off. Dont see any cracks or anything, not sure what possessed someone to glue that back on.

 

ROTFLMAO, man you have all the luck, bad and this time some good. Congrats on taking your time and not freaking out and tearing it off. Good call.

Half the battle with pulling wrenches is knowing when to walk away.
Do not give up!!, just go cool off and come back fresh. spend time here and ask like you did, then go fix it the way you just did.
Next time you can tell someone how it comes off.
Slow and easy wins ...... and cost way less

The moral here is that any car can be fixed, if you stand back and write very large checks every time you turn around, in three or four years you can have a nice car.

Hang in there, do not use cheap assed parts, do the very best job you can and you can end up with a nice car.

 

Ohh..I aint complaining. Im taking it all in stride.

Drove it home once bought...drove it till somethin broke (radiator end tank)..and every day is another learning moment.
