Speaking of SBC Conversions - LT1 Power
Check out this interesting LT1 powered Euro 1986 F/S: http://bringatrailer.com/2010/10/16/...6-porsche-928/
BaT Exclusive: LT1-Powered Euro 1986 Porsche 928
This 1986 Porsche 928 is a Euro 5-speed car that has been given a professional Chevrolet LT1 engine conversion. The seller tells us that this engine is lighter, more powerful, and easier to work on than the original Porsche V8, and features Edelbrock aluminum heads for performance and weight savings. The car is a daily driver that is fully loaded with options including 12-way power/heated leather seats, limited slip/locking differential, dual a/c, power windows, power sunroof, alarm, Porsche short shift kit, and Brembo brakes. It is available in Winston-Salem, North Carolina for $13k.

Nope, it was a low compression 32v Euro. Pretty sure that's the one I know from Black Forest Racing. Many fun emails back and forth with the owner of the shop as I was working on buying the motor thinking it was a Euro S only to eventually find it was the low compression 32v.

The one they put in the 92 vette were rated at 300 HP/330FTlbs.
The worst thing about them are the opti-spark setup in the late LT1's.
It is a step backwards as far as power goes and possibly a step backwards for reliability due to the Opti-Spark setup.

I think if you are going to do this use a motor like a LS1/2/3/7/or 9 and even you can buy used SB 2.2 engines that have been freshened and converted to roller cam and use the small heads used at Martinsville. Expect 800 hp with a excellent dry sump system.
