I drive mine everyday to and from school and after 2 1/2 years I no complaints. Just perform preventative maintenance and the car shouldn't give you many problems. I had to drive the car home from school last winter with snow on the road; even with summer tires the car handled wonderfully although I was a bit worried at first.

I drive mine every day to the shop and 400-500 miles on weekends. I am trying to get tired of it but it just won't happen.

I try to drive mine every chance I get. It typically stays away from rain. Then, I store it from about November to April.

We have an 84 rolling daily about 50 miles a day on I-81 in the mountains, an 86 that my wife uses for errands almost everyday (22 k miles in 22 mos) and another pair that I alternate.

3 were true rescues with good (knock on wood) engines. We've got most of the wear-parts and rubber replaced and the electrical sorted.

I think the cars can be depended upon if you cycle-through an intitial refresh systematically, then bring them into the garage every 6 months or so for a once-over. I bought all the same body style and sure-enough, the same stuff needs attention across the cars.

Ain't that about right? wear-parts, rubber, electrics. Then drive the **** out of 'em. I've put 250k on my 84 over 10 years, my steady driver. The OB 5spds are tons of fun but you chew everything up on long hauls so I tend to drive them for fun. The old 5 spds are quick, the younger AT's are fast. IMHO, you need at least 2 928's... so you always have something to drive.

I have used one as a daily driver since 91. I have had 4 different ones during those years. (2 -79's, an 83s and now an 88s4) They all have been wonderful daily drivers. I have yet to have one let me down. Now, I did have the aluminum ball joints break on one of them but it was while I was backing out of my parking space at work so it didn't cause too much trouble. It scared the hell out of me because I had driven it very aggressivly to work that day. That was the only time any of my sharks have let me down. Now, I work on them all the time. It is my method of stress relief. You can always come up with something that needs to be done on a 928. If you can stay ahead of the curve on the maintenance, the car can be utterly reliable. I am sure I have paid twice as much in gas as most commuters out there, but I always had fun getting to and from work and I did it in style with one hell of a classy car. And yes, I drove them in snow, sleet, ice, rain and sun. They are not bad 'bad weather' cars if you practice with them a bit so you know what they will do if you loose control. I have spun mine around several times unexpectedly while giving a little too much throtle at the wrong time. Was lucky every time and have yet to actually hit anything. The car has amazing recoverability and will surprise you how easily it comes back to you if you don't panick.

I see it this way, these cars will never be worth a fortune. I bought them to drive. I drive them every single chance I get and enjoy every minute. I love to look at a 928, but I would rather drive it any day then look at it.

Just my 2 cents

I drive mine every day, rain or shine. I will make many excuses to avoid using our other vehicles. I will purposely forget something at the grocery store so that I will have return to get it. Unless I ever have two or more, with one as a collector, I will ALWAYS drive mine. These cars are phenomenal on loose ground and wet surfaces. (dependent on tires) I used to drive my completely stock 79 down a 2 mile stretch of wide dirt driveway both was a couple of times a day too. Because we lived on a ranch, the driveway was visible for long distances so even at night, you could go full bore on it. I was alway so amazed how well it tracked anywhere on the run, weather sliding sideways around a corner, or flying through soft stuff. The 928 would have made a hell of a rally car too... Did anyone ever rally these cars? I know there were matchbox versions, but I don't remember any off the top of my head. I'm not sure if an S4 staggered tire setup would work as good for dirt though, but that could be because I've never tried an S4 on dirt like that. I'd think a little bit skinnier tire with an aggressive tread (The tires on my 79 were M+S tires. I'm sure that with huge horsepower you would need wider tires, but the original configuration sure carved well. I suppose 928 Motorsports would know the best way.....

Daily, 8 - 9 months a year, only thing I won't consider is driving when the salt has been laid down. (It was a southern US car, and I don't want to screw up a good thing). Three seasons now and just over 30K (Miles). Only quit on me once and that was a fuel pump. Maintenance is the key. Runs better when driven regularly, and no leaks. (Yes even from the oil pan gasket, and I've re-torqued the bolts twice now). I drove it home from MO in 2008 , over a thousand miles on a quick inspection (Yes I'm quite mental), essentially bald tires, and no issues the entire trip. Reliable enough for me!

I drive mine daily here. Spend a lot of time behind the wheel everyday. I am cruising around Atlanta and am behind the wheel 2 to 3 hrs a day! No issue's at all except for a stolen key that keep her down for a few weeks.

Rock solid and dependable. The 928 is an amazing car! I drive the **** out of it and it smiles. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't have the pedal to the floor, taking it to redine through 4 gears. Gotta do it just to hear her roar!

Daily driver in every season... although extra caution is used in winter in case of the errant ice patch!

Only try to take mine out on nice days but that plan hasn't worked to perfection this year...just love driving it too much!! LOL

Put on just over 5000kms so far this summer....now the odometer reads just over 66000kms or 42000 miles.

Daily for three seasons. I do have snow tires for it and it does very well in the snow. Land Rover just seems to make more sense for most of the winter. Plus, the winter is a great time to do big jobs and take my time to do them right.

Once I get the timing belt and hoses done on Euro 79 OB, I'm going to use it as a winter beater. She needs a repaint so until I'm ready to do that, I might as well drive the **** out of it.
