Mostly daily when the weather is good. If its raining, I try to leave it parked. To asnwer your reliability question, a lot of that has to do with care taken by previous owners. I waited to find a well sorted car and have had no issues in almost 2 years (roughly 15K miles). I have heard the 32V cars are a bit more maintenance intensive or maybe its just that they are a little harder to work on. My 16V is pretty basic and there are some great forum vendors that are really helpful in keeping these cars on the road.

I drive mine daily, about 36 miles round trip between house and vanpool stop. All seasons, including winter, unless a big snow, where I either take out the Suburban or wait for the plows (sometimes a long wait). I have a set of cable chains I keep with me in the winter and have had to chain up to get the 928 home. Mind you, anything more than a couple of inches of Sierra Cement and the cable chains don't do so good. Also, any more than that and the car's front spoiler becomes a plow. The fatter tires aren't so great in snow/ice either, gots to take it slow around the curves

I drive my 86 Daily in the summer almost 70 miles a day....have about 30 more days if I'm really lucky and it doesn't snow...but once the snow is falling it is put away till next spring......Run AUDIS for the winter....

Daily x 2. I drive one and my daughter drives another. They'll get a little time off this winter once I catch up with the maintenance on my Audi and add it back in the rotation.

I daily drive my 928 during the summer months, i would never drive it in winter weather. Front engine v8 with rear wheel drive doesnt make a good snow combo. Its reliable and gets me around in style but when it comes to maintinance its just like any other 80's porsche.
Previously, though, I had an '85 auto with no LSD. That was actually a pretty decent car in the snow. With Bridgestone Blizzaks on there it did quite well, even when my wife was commuting from Colorado Springs to Denver in the cold and icy winter of '97.

To be quite honest... I Love my 924 to death, it's about to become a track car. I thought "I wish i had one to drive every day!" and bought a 944 after some research. It has quickly become not nearly as fun as my 924. I know... that sounds "weird" and I know here on rennlist a lot of people hate the 924 and the 944 guys love the 944, etc... so i realize "not a lot of love for the 924" whatever, fine with me but I love it.
Screw em.
Drive what makes you happy.
I do not DD my 928, but I could with out issues, I just hate cleaning it that often.

I've had a 928 for a daily driver for 16 years now. The occasional snow has not been a problem. Only got stuck once, but that was with 315's on the back. Starting off in 4th gear finally got it going.

Driven sunny days couple times a month during summer only.Never seen winter and haven't driven in the rain since I bought it from original owner in 1994.Will make someone a nice car if looking for a super clean 928.

928 is my only car but I commute by motorcycle. So my situation is a bit odd, when it rains the 928 gets driven. But I live in a very moderate climate. Today not withstanding.

Having had a 924, and driven many 944s, I know exactly what you speak of.
The difference between a 924, and a 944 is like an early 928 vs a later 928.
If you have had no problem keeping your 924 on the road, then the 928 will be easy too.
In my opinion the 928 is a far better daily driver than a 944.
I drive mine year round and have driven in weather that most on this board wouldnt even venture out in a big 4x4 in.
The 924 was much easier to drive in the snow, but the 928 is capable. But you really do need to have a limited slip differential if you are going to drive it in the ice and snow. The 928 is just a tad to heavy, with too much torque to get going in snow etc. with a 1 tire fire.

Daily after the last now melts (April/May) to when first snow fall is expected (Now/Dec) EXCEPT if I know it's going to rain. Rain + 335/35/17 tires + puddles = drive very very cautiously.
