Default Just bought m first 928! 86 black/black 5 speed

Thanks Ted! I am just getting ready to catch a flight back from new York. Due to family and work issues I can't take the time to drive it back to colorado. I hav about 6 shipping quotes for enclosed and open transfer. Looks like about 1300 for enclosed and about 700 for open.

I want to thank Ted928. His family and himself could not have been nicer and more hospitable. He really is a great guy and I wish him the best of luck with the new ride.

It was love at first sight and I can't wait until the car arrives. It didn't hurt to follow Ted home with him in the 928 watching the car go through windy roads with the trees changing colors.

I want to thank rennlist for giving me so much info on what to look for and for helping me find this car. I would have never seen it, if I wasn't a part of the site. I will be here quite often I am sure and apreciate the offers of help I have already received in the 5 hours or so since Ted posted it was sold!

Take my advice, go with the enclosed delivery. My GTS arrived extremely filthy on an open trailer. Also do not sign for the car until you have inspected it thoroughly. Once you sign, even if you find damage and they say they did it, they will not pay and laugh in your face after they realize they have your signature.....

Congratulations to Mark!!!

I think if I would have let him drive the 928 back to my house while I followed him in his rented car, I may have backed out of the deal. Amazingly beautiful and ageless.

It was a pleasure meeting him and I am thrilled to know that the car has found a great home, with great people supporting him - as they have always supported me.

Thanks

-just curious?

I have loved the 928 since I was a kid. I drove one in college and knew I wouldn't have the money or time to take care of it properly. Now I am in a much better position to be able to take care of a car like this.

The car arrived on Wednesday! I love it, haven't driven anything else since it arrived. Not as fast as the mustang, but has many other attributes. It loves to go above 60! The wife likes it better than mustang because it is quieter and smells better(mustang has no cats) and is really comfy.

I will post some pics soon. I used open transport with mercury auto transport. Car came 4 days earlier than they said and was dirty but undamaged.

Mark,

Now you need the 928 EVOLUTION DVD and 928 Calendar to round out your 928 experience! Yea, I bet if you put a Turbo or SC on the '86 it would easily out perform the 'Stang in every way! I assure you the 28 will already out handle and out brake the FORD product...

The simple answer is that I needed the garage space.

The longer answer is ...
I have 3 garage stalls slated for minivan , 928, and truck. I also have an old roadster that I store in walk-out basement (6' french doors) during off-summer. Old roadster forces truck outside during summer.

Why sell 928??? I've owned it 15 years and I needed the garage space since I bought a new roadster.

Why buy new roadster??? Because I wanted to drive a roadster more frequently than I drive my old roadster.

Why not sell old roadster instead of 928??? I don't have to sell the old roadster because it fits through the doors (6' french doors) of my walkout basement where I store it off-summer.

Why not sell old roadster instead of 928 and store new roadster in basement??? Then I would not be driving new roadster more frequently.

Why want to drive roadster more frequently:??? No logical answer to this question... just do.

As you can see, I can add more information to my original response but the answer does not become any clearer.

Maybe the answer really is - because I screwed-up??

Yes, I would agree with that.

But, the stang does have it's plusses as well. Supercharger for mustang 1800, for 928 6k. Mustang is convertible. Parts much cheaper for mustang and almost any mechanic can work on the mustang. There are also many easy bolt on and other mods for the stang, heads, cam, intake, gears, throttle body, chip, headers, x pipe, cat back exhaust.

But the thing that make all those mods so available an cheap is the same thing that makes mustangs less desireable to me. There are a ton of them around and a ton of idiots driving them. Most of the fast ones look like crap and most of the nice looking ones are all show and no go. I do like mine though since I have only seen one other like it in the last 8 years. Green ext with white leather and white top.

The 928 is an entirely different beast and I love them both.
