Oil Pressure Gauge Issue

Here's one for you. With engine running, the oil pressure guage works fine. 5 bar at speed and around 1.7-2.0 bar at hot idle. The needle swings smoothly with no erratic behavior.
When you turn off the engine the oil pressure guage swings back to 0 bar and within a second it pegs 5 bar and stays there until the digital dash turns off a few minutes later. If you lock the car (which turns off the digital dash) it goes to 0 bar.
Has anyone seen this one before? I built and installed a new harness in from the 14 pin connector over to the alternator and oil pressure sensor during fall of 2009. Its worked fine until recently.
It's a 1990 S4 automatic.
