Certificate of Authenticity - missing info
Just received my Certificate from Porsche today and there was some info missing that I was really looking forward to getting. Option stickers are missing from the hatch area. The MSRP was listed as "Information Not Available". More importantly, however, was the Interior Material Color/Type was listed "Information Not Available/VM". Does anyone know what the VM code represents? I believe my color is Cashmere (carpets almost seems a pinkish beige/tan) and I think the seats are Cork but I'm not sure. I'm wanting to get Paul to do the seats in the original color (fronts only, rears are like new) but need to find a confirmation for the color.
Have many of you had the experience of having missing info on the Certificate? Seems odd they can't get what would seem to be pretty basic info.
Anyone have any ideas? Thanks, Ernie

My certificate of authenticity didn't match perfectly with the cars window sticker (options only) but its close. Is your 928 a Euro or North America car?

That's the main reason I have not purchased one. Anytime I've seen one posted it's usually missing info such as what you have mentioned.

The same problem here. I sent them an e-mail explaining how there was information missing from the certificate. They asked what info was missing, and I told them. A week later, I got an amended version in the mail. How does that make any sense?
PAG just doesn't keep enough info on these cars.

I understand what you say. Seems kind of strange that the Germans, who are known to be so meticulous, can't come up with the MSRP or even the color of the interior. Strange. I'm going to give them a call on Monday and see what gives. I've ordered a Porsche factory color catalog from Autolit that appears to have all these int/ext color codes listed (I hope). We'll see what that has to say. If that document (an actual Porsche document to boot) can tell me what I'm looking for, I would be kind of po'd that PCNA can't take the time to do a little more research in their own archives to fill in the blanks. Especially for $100.00.
Maybe I should have just ordered more parts from Roger!
In the meantime, anyone know what the VM interior codes represents?

Called PCNA yesterday and their response was that this informatrion is missing. The interior color records were not present and that records to translate the VM code are missing as well? Very personable lady but it does not seem that the Porsche researchers are taking this Certificate of Authenticty too seriously, especially at $100.00 a pop.
So, I am back to the drawing board as far as interior colors. Had I known they could not come up with some of the vital information, I probably would not have spent the $100.00 for information I already have. But, it looks good on the wall!

I had my vin decoded by sun coast and it came up with all the color codes and options. My car was a custom ordered car so the option code in the trunk listed all the custom codes with no option codes. I was pleasantly surprised at how much detail Sun Coast was able to get.

I went through Suncoast as well and they actually gave me more info than the Certificate did. It gave the interior code as VM, but still no reference to the actual color names. Another site is below - this one is even better than the other as it list the options on the car with the three digit numeric option codes.

I suppose I'll wait for the Porsche literature I ordered from Walter Miller, perhaps that will answer the question.

I went the PCNA route for a Certificate of Authenticity (COA) on my P-car and was very dissapointed in the results. It showed next to nothing for options, yet I could count at least 20 odd option codes that applied to my car. Depending on the year of your car, I don't think Porsche or PCNA did a great job of recording the codes, or conversely, what they determined as actually being an option or standard on the car model/series. If you have an ROW car...well then forget about the COA option as PCNA won't have it on record.

your best bet is to go to your local porsche dealer parts dept and ask them to run the build sheet, you'll need to show proof of ownership but should be the most accurate info you'll get

I'm getting a little nervous about having purchased the certificate of authenticity recently. They called me today and confirmed they have shipped the certificate to me, for my "1991 928 GTS coupe".......
Please correct me, but I don't think they made a GTS in 1991. So, I called them back and asked them to re-confirm the model again.
This makes me nervous - if they can't even get the model of the car correct, what confidence should I have in any of the details?...
Assuming this isn't really a 1991 GTS coupe.....if it is, I likely have one of a kind! (ha)

The file doesn't seem to download anymore off the RL server. Will see if I can fix that.
