And the black seal/trim tween the bumpers, and spoiler...and mirrors.

When I Emailed why the Maaco paint job, I got:

"paint job is average but can be made better with some wetsanding and overspray removal"

OOooook.

it helps to remove parts or mask prior to painting

Apparently not everyone agrees though.

^^^^^^
I was thinking the exact same thing! 5 spd 86.5 car...could have been nice... could be again. Replace the rear S spoiler, the front and rear bumper beading, the rearview mirror gaskets and the fog light trim (as well as new front bumper support shocks...look how far he blinker is pushed in) and it could be a pretty nice car...assuming the wet sanding ACTUALLY WORKED to clean up what I am sure is a $hit paint job...

To my big surprise, I think the painted mirror surround doesn't look bad. What's bad is that these pieces hadn't been removed and painted separately before reassembly with proper gaskets/beading.

I bet this paint will start peeling where it meets the trim - possibly within months, not years.

This paint job devalued the car more than it helped - very sad!

What's up with the headlights? They appear to be retracted too far into the fenders.

Jeez I do a better job taping off trim when I buff my car.

What surprises me is how high the bidding is. The car looks like it was thrown together and quickly painted to make it look somewhat presentable. I'm surprised you guys think the interior looks good. The dash and center console look like they were glued in place incorrectly and one big pothole would probably shake them loose. There are ***** missing everywhere.

I wonder what the mechanicals are like if there was that much attention to detail when painting!

Surely is the same car. Look at the blue wires on the engine. The same paint missing in the cross member top.

You guys are harsh... replace all the rubber beading, the spoilers, and I'll bet it looks pretty good. Wet sand with some clear and it probably looks great. 86.5 5 speed should spend it's life gobbling up road and who can tell how good the paint is then?

Look at the nose. Both lights are recessed a bit too much, and the cross brace is bent. There is a ding on the driver's side front fender. At the time I was looking, the original owner was looking for $12.5k. My '85 is in significantly better shape overall, and I paid 8600 for that. I nearly did buy it. Original owner said he had receipts--not sure if the dealer does, but my guess is probably not.
