I made it! 24.8 miles per gallon and the temp guage never got close to the top white line. The oil was at 5 bars. 1291 miles here and I am a happy!!!

Isn't it amazing the way a 928 can eat up the miles and not wear you out?

Chris and I got in late last night (about midnight)..long drive..1100 miles or so. The GT ran great and no issues at all. Lots of cops out and about in California...there were 4 lying in wait just across the OR/CA border...and I quit counting after 10. They were even running at nighttime.... The V1 would alert me.....and about 2 miles up the road there would be a CHPer on the side of the road.(or center median) totally in stealth mode...all dark except the glow of the radar readout...
Ran into Dave (Sharkskin) who guided me to the "protected parking area" .... and then after checking in...promptly hit the sack....

Today....a mission to find the rare and unobtainium 245/45/16s....and go checkout Marks car at Gregs shop...

Well, there will be a million photos posted eventually, but I was too busy having fun to remember to pull my camera out. We got an early start on Friday, putting Mark Anderson's race car on the dyno at Greg's shop to do some Sharktuning. With Jim Corenman directing the laptop tuning, Greg providing the engine insights, and Mark pushing the pedal on the right a lot, we got Mark's car dialed in a bit after 7 seasons of racing on 'larger' injectors and Authothority chips with a raised rev limit. (XXX track hours, XX track days, XX races, and never a drop of Amsoil in the sump.....)

Greg somehow got into Mark's seat at some point:

A typical Sharktuner datalog shown in Sharkplotter, when Mark's driving. Lots of WOT.....

At some point Greg cranked up the resistance on the dyno drums to 60%. With Mark spinning the rollers at 145 mph, big clouds of smoke started emanating from the back of the car. But it wasn't the car, it was the dyno....

After Mark was dialed in, we rolled in and tuned Joseph Fan's car as well.

Dan Hebert's Zyclamrot beauty was finally finished late Friday afternoon, and got a detailing to within an inch of its life. Final assembly went late into the night:

Saturday dawned gray and misty, I got to 928Intl a litle early. Ok, I was first:

Glad I spent so much time cleaning the wheels the night before...

But it was a great day, the lot was completely filled, great to see lots of friendly faces again. Mark and Renee hosted a little BBQ lunch for 100 or so, Carl had a big table of 928MS products, and Tom and the crew were busy selling parts. Greg did a tech session on the complete disassembly of a G28.03 transmission, which was hugely interesting to those of us who are a little intimidated by tranny guts.

I had to bolt out Saturday afternoon early, but not before giving Ryan and Antonio a brief ride in the GTS. Michael (Black28) had the misfortune to have a ride in the wet this morning.... Hope you enjoyed it, guys!

The fun run went off this morning in the same gray mist, 7 hardy souls appeared for the ride. I had to bail at the last moment ("Yes, Dear") but Sue Corenman stepped up to lead the group tour of the San Gabriels. Heres' the route for those interested:

Another great SF with a very nice turnout. I predict even better next year as a number of the SoCal people are getting "this close" to finishing up cars.

The Chevy engined race cars were most interesting, as well as hearing about some new SCCA class for "anything" that came from the factory with a V8, wt/hp = some fixed number.

Nice event I actually got to see the cars and talk to many people. Got the unofficial "award " for the ugliest 928 which included three wrecks waiting to be stripped The old very brown 1980 ! Good to see everyone.

I was glad to make it out to see old friends, meet some new ones I have been looking forward to meeting for some time, and of course see so many amazing 928's. And from all over too.
While there were many nice cars out there, Dan's Zyclamrot S4 was just stunning and stood out that much more to my eye. Great job on that car, Dan, and great to finally meet you.
It was different to see Mark's shop so... organized! When I complimented him, his response was, "take a picture," lol!

I look forward to hearing the stories of all the things I missed, but thanks to Mark et all for organizing another successful 928 GTG.

Thanks again to Mark A and the 928 Intl crew and Greg Brown for the great event. Had a load of fun at the tuning session on Friday and seeing everyone and the cars on Saturday, even including the Chevy conversions. Had to split early. Ran with Porken for a while on the way up I-5. See everyone again next year!

Fun drive.... Not so fun for some. Freakin' road was crazy with skinny sections, super tight turns radius, many bicyclists and a very fast pace. Plus wet roads before reaching the higher altitude. Before Rob had to split off, he did a WOT pass that sounded AMAZING... I'm already thinking about next year...

Fun drive continued... For some reason, only owners of black or white sharks were hardcore enough for this run...
