Bill,
I wish I could get there with just a mirror and flashlight - I've spent almost an hour when making second set of pictures to get there with no luck at all.
I guess I need to raise that corner... but I have no jacks... I'll stop by Autozone tomorrow and will purchase one - but they only have 3 ton hydralic jacks - are these good enough? Will also grab a couple of these 6-ton jack stands
Thank You!

As I've aged, i've come to appreciate lightness, as well. 75# is a lot to horse around.
Harbor Freight will give you a better selection and price. Probably Sears, too. Other posters may pipe up.

Costco has a good jack its a low profile and lifts 3 1/2 tons about 75.00
has 2 pump pistons so its also a quick lift till the jack hits the car

Thanks a lot for suggestions on jacks! I'm a bit confused though - I thought I need both of these types. Hydralic jack to raise the car and then a jack stand to put it in place of the hydralic jack... Am I missing something? Also, since I don't have Porken liftbars, how do I replace the hydralic jack with a regular jack stand?
Thank You!
Thank You!

You're not missing anything. This is the conundrum of the "official" jackpoints for using a jack and jackstands. What I do is jack on the official front jackpoint and put a jackstand under one of the lower A-arm brackets on the body. These are as strong/stronger than the jackpoints and fit well into a jackstand saddle. Others can criticize and come up with a better idea.

This is possible because the of the cars unique weight distribution between the front and rear wheels. After you try this a few times, you'll realize it is actually easier to do than other ways, because it is the easiest way to visually locate the hydraulic floor jack.

Costco had a nice jack. http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/showthread.php?t=80476
Not sure what they have now, and it varies somewhat from store-to-store. Worth checking out. They have jackstands as well. Sears jacks have a bad reputation for leaking/failing. I have one and had a lot of trouble with it but finally managed to get it to work properly after a lot of bleeding/refilling/adjusting.

Harbor Freight (over in Jersey) has a big sale this week. Jacks are inexpensive. Not sure if there are any worth recommending however:

Jack stands too:

Hmm, this is an interesting suggestion. I was driving in the evening with headlights on and got the high beams on. I reached and pushed on the right column by mistake - this should have activated headlight washer. I don't recall seeing any windshield fluid coming out though. Will test it out today. This would explain color of the fluid too - as I said, it was almost completely clear.

you can taste either. washer fluid tastes nasty. coolant tastes sugary. a drop of either won't hurt you.
I have had plenty of both over the years and I am fin@#^#&.............

Just went back and looked at the leak, it was still leaking very slowly. I popped the headlights and used headlight washers. Makes it a bit easier under daylight too, water is bluish in color so it is coming out of the headlight washer system.
What is the best way to check the driver's headlight washer? Should I raise the car (bought jacks yesterday at Harbor Freight) and drop front bumper and/or belly pans? Or is it accessed from the top?
Thank You!
