Good luck w/ your car. Couldn't have bought it from a nicer gentlemen! Enjoy your drive and watch out for smokey!

Looking forward to hearing about your drive and impression of the 928!

Enjoy that car, buying a car from AO is definitely some peace of mind. He has done all the maintenance that 90% of 928's don't have done when they are out there for sale.

With that squirter block, the next logical step will be adding a supercharger!

If he's getting picked up in the boosted GT.........he'll get a good taste of what these cars are capable of.

Yes he will!

A few other things I did and forgot to list:

Powdercoated intake and cam covers
New gaskets and sels for cam covers and breather ports
New steering rack boot
new tie rod end (boot was split)
AC head unit relay repair
Re-flow of Cruise control solder joints
Removed extremely faded tint
Replaced windshield
Replaced Driver-side mirror glass
Checked crank end play and installed PKlamp

I'm sure there were a couple other things... they'll come to me eventually.

Andrew,

Price that lot on both those lists and it probably comes to much more than the cost of an "e-bay special". The irony is that you probably were only asking a grand or two more than an e-bay special that could be TBF'd. Sure hope Steve gives it a good home as it deserves one.

By the way I tell prospective owners that if you do not know the history allow $5k and pray that it is enough.

The only things I can think of [that you have probably done anyway] are the fuel pumps [does that model have in tank pump?] and the stupid plastic y pipe around the charcoal filter. Half shaft gaiters, motor mounts etc?

I get the impression that functioning a/c's in both the USA and GB are almost optional extra's - not here though. You do not want to be in a 928 out here when the a/c is not working-

Regards

Steve,

I was at andrews on saturday and can attest the car is mighty swell. the paint (after AO's magic buff) looks great and the air blows super cold. you will most certainly enjoy it!
a word of warning however. driving in a boosted car will cause fits, nervous tics, and quite likely, a very strong desire to spend onther 8 grand on the car...

nothing like the boosty.

congrats and welcome to the club.

Steve,

If the car does not have written, certified, complete service records, cancel the deal...

It does need motor mounts and an oil pan gasket. I told Steve that it's a nice project to get acquainted with the car (i.e. very messy).

Fuel pump(s)? It works. I wouldn't do it as a matter of preventive maintenance, but I might have a spare on hand, just in case. I'm pretty sure it just has the one pump.

Charcoal Y... Hmmm... That reminds me, I replaced the horn. So when I had the fender liner off, I looked up there and it was intact... for now. When it fails get the stainless steel version from Nicole.

One of the half shafts looks like it will need new boots soon, but was still in-tact when I looked at it. Again, this is a great, get to know your car project. Not hard to do, but very very messy and a good excuse to buy some big honkin sockets from Harbor freight.

Thanks for all of the thoughts guys, like I said I couldn't be more psyched for Saturday. I'm thinking now that 12 hours may not be long enough to get aquainted to my new car.

As far as taking care of it, I power washed my garage and cleaned it out completely for the 928, she'll have a great home and be well cared for.

Now..here comes my stupid neophyte question...What's a squirter motor?

Norcoastal,

Porsche installed oil squirters in some 928 blocks, similar to those in a lot of (all?) 911 engines.

They squirt oil upwards onto the bottom of the piston to aid in cooling. Apparently this is desirable if intending to enhance the engine via supercharging.
