Default Long drive this weekend

Going on a trip of over a 1,000 miles this weekend, so if you see a black wanna be GTS (S4) on the road, wave, flip me off, show your **** or something.
This is what these cars are meant for, long trips, just the road, the car, and the Police.

yawl have fun with out me.

If I see a black S4 this weekend in my neck of the woods I'm definitely going to lift my shirt.

+1 if you're headed up the coast, Adam and I will be wrenchin' on his brakes in his garage. Stop by for some coffee/bagels!

Call ahead if you're being chased, we'll get the garage door ready to close!

If you see a pair in a sweater, that's me--and I'm not wearing a sweater.

I'm always eager to eat up the road in the 928.

I drove 3300 miles in July. Went to Austin, Tx for a volleyball tournament, down to Nashville, TN and back for a job interview. Not a single issue. Not bad for a 22 year old 110k mile car. I was happy with the 23mpg I got to TX and back too.

I just started a new job in TN and I will commute on the weekends back and forth between Nashville and Indy, 600 mile round trip, until I relocate permanently. I'll probably do that for a month or so. Straight shot up and down I-65. It's a pretty quick and easy trip in the 928.

Lots of rain in aL, in Memphis now, been a fun day of driving, no donations have been made to any local or state government agencies, unlike one member here did today.

gonna be wheels up in a few hours, time for a beer and a nap.

I am a new member and I would like to add a few thoughts. I have been very fortunate this past 9 months since I purchased my S4 in Dec. 09. I have logged over 12,000 miles without a you know what. My family and I love going on weekend 300-600 mile jaunts. I have been around this site for the last couple months and I know my time is coming. I am trying to learn as much info so I can assess my problem(s) to this site. What I think about before every trip is I need a guardian angel I can call when out in the open roads of Washington to help trouble shoot to get her back home. Is there such a service within this site of people one could call for phone support if needed. It could be where a donation is made when this service is provided. I know I would feel better before a long trip knowing I could make a fix. I guess if it was just me in the car I would be OK, but add the family which includes 2 young ones and the fact I love to drive at night I feel like I am asking for it. Back in 1980 I had a 1978 928 5 speed and it was a nightmare. I did well this second time around though.

Somebody used to maintain a phone list of volunteers in various areas of the country and sent out periodically by email. Anybody know what happened to that?

Yeah, I remember about 2 years ago there was another call to update it.

It included things like:

Location?
Tools/parts available?
Garage available?

Some guys said they have towing capabilities or could recommend one in the area, that sort of thing.

I haven't heard anything about it in a while.

I think the problem is that it couldn't just be published because it was only supposed to be for people who agreed to participate.

What most people do now is if they're planning a trip, just send up a thread on here and see if anyone is in the area that could help or recommend places to stay/get service.

Well if anybody is in the greater Seattle area and needs a pretty well equipped shop for repairs I would be happy to assist. I don't believe many are from this area so I could be of some help some day.

Many folks signed on to the "928 roadhelp lists" and were added to the available resources table. I think it was Greg S who was keeping the lists. It's been a while since I received an update, so new activity/added members have probably slowed to none.

I tried to sign up when I joined here and never got a reply back.

I would be happy to help/host anyone in the Kansas area that was in need, and I would sure feel better when I was traveling knowing that help was available if needed. If there is still a keeper of the list, add my name or tell me where to sign up.
